August 13, 201015 yr Sometimes when I am in my room with the fan on, and if I listen really closely, I can hear faint music. When I turn off the fan, the music stops. I have searched my room/house, and cant find any electronic things that would produce sounds (that were on). I have come to the conclusion that my fan is picking up radio waves. Here is the fan is question. Am I going crazy, or is this plausible? Blog.
August 13, 201015 yr I've heard about this. Cables in the house act as an antenna, diode in the fan converts AM into sound via a vibrating case or motor coil windings.
August 13, 201015 yr thats pretty crazy. August 13, 201015 yr It doesn't surprise me. I've heard of reported cases in which a person's braces have picked up radio waves. Don't know whether it's true or not. Could you possibly make a video of the fan when it does this. It would be cool to hear. Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew
August 13, 201015 yr This is from the Yahoo! Answers page, which probably means you have a radio station transmitting very close to your house. I listened more closely and heard "Voice" and "700". Searched online, and it turns out there is a radio station called 700AM Voice that broadcast less than a mile from my apartment!! And yeah, radio stations used to transmit so intensely that people could pick up radio in their braces, and hear them through their ears.

Thanks for teaching me something new today. :DThat actually makes braces sound awesome. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.[hide=Tifers say the darndest things]I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.I would laugh, not hate. I'm a male. :(Since when was Ireland an island...? :wall:I actually have a hobby of licking public toilet seats.[/hide]

Maybe if I put my iPod radio adapter close enough to my cheek... Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew

August 13, 201015 yr This is quite possibly the coolest phenomonon I've ever heard involving a fan. Close second for me, the koreans get the first place. In Korea it is widely accepted as a fact that if you go to sleep with a fan on in a room you can die.
August 14, 201015 yr "Now folks, if you'll just change your fan's speed dial to two, you can listen to Justin Timberlake's newest song...." Popoto.~<3

August 16, 201015 yr Back in my dorm room I could tilt my guitar at a certain angle and get radio to play out of my amp. Pretty weird/cool.
