Should I gain defense

I was wondering if I should gain defense, because slayer tasks would be alot easier or should I stick with what I have.

I am currently 75 combat.

This is the only account I have. I do however feel like pking is sort of dead now. I would hate to kill someone with a bgs or something and get a maul out of it.

If you dont do much pking, then go ahead and do it. your melee stats are already pretty high, but for slayer you really do need a decent defence level

Exactly. If you still PK then leave the defence. But with your strength and attack being pretty high I can see Defence levels rolling in. Also personally I'm biased as I have the 99 <3:

I do know I can get defense fast anyway. I could just do dragon slayer and then do the mm training as well. I'm just afraid of regretting it in the long run, although I do have decent stats to become a tank. Would pking as a tank be just as good as being a pure?

Think of defence as a tool for better equipment, so know the equipment you care to use.

 

With 44 prayer, maybe Initiate/proselyte for the prayer bonus.

 

The key point though, you cannot go BACK to being a 1 def pure, and at the moment, you could possibly go for more prayer to use defensively - prayer levels add least to combat level - half as much as defence does.

Getting defence will allow you to get a quest cape, which is the coolest (as in, least grindy but still impressive (and the only one I got <3:)) in the game imo. I'd second what has been said above, too.

I feel like if I got high enough mining I could do concentrated gold to 99 mining and finish up with 99 smithing instead of losing money. The more I do in slayer the more money I spend with food.

In the beginning it is a bit of a drain, but once you hit some higher levels, you will start breaking even at the very least.

You can safespot range 90% of slayer tasks. It's not terribly slow and costs next to nothing.

 

If you like ranging you could do that. If not I'd get defense Pking is dead so I'm considering upping my defence too.

I really wouldn't ever consider getting defense up if it's only for slayer- the rank 2 slayer is only 53 defense and evidently, does just fine. Getting that high stats without decent defense is already hard enough, no reason to ruin it for little gain.

Getting defence would make you regret it later on. Also, to become a tank, you need at least 70 attack to train with a whip, but by then, your attack + strength levels will be too high.

Friend is doing a slayer pure with 25 defence, If you want to challenge yourself then you might like it, but since its your only account i would go for a maxed out account first.

After my main got banned, I got defense on my 1-def pure since having only one account w/ 1 defense severely limits the things you can do for fun.

Get 10 defense so you can wear a black mask, or get 99 defense because it's better than <99 defense.

i would try to max out and train def imo, and you could always experience with other pures or tanks like what with me and my mage tank. train that account first then if you get bored you could make another pure

2% of the game? Some people only play runescape to pk, which can be over 90% of their game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your att and str are too high to be a (successful) tank, you should become a zerker instead. You still have access to a lot of the game while being proficient at pking.

It's your personal choice. In your case, i'd go for an maxed acc. Just my opinion.
