Well, they aren't really relevent anymore, we all know Hegemony was the creation of the site and no-ones quotes it anymore. It should hopefully be stickyes but keeping it up there is a bit of a useless monument.

They are still accessable.

I think the sticky was removed when the admins put up the friendlier ruler and guidelines of the Tavern. Maybe it's still around here somewhere?

Quit acting like you're some sort of authority here. We wanted those game stickied, and as far as I can tell you are the only one who didn't.

Hex is the authority...he is the only person who ignores what everyone else says and then PMs the admin that there was agreement...and since the Admin probably don't have the time or inclination of search....or ask...other people, he has total power.

We are all just hurt that we don't have any control over the forum we made and we have to deal with all of the changes that are made, while the Admin don't...How insensitive we are.[/sarcasm]

I didn't PM that there was agreement at all because there wasn't any discussion.

Ah, the forum rules have been updated since I last looked =P

Perhaps rewritting it as 'In roleplaying debates can sometimes get very heated, just remember, its only a game, no one's feelings need to be hurt.'

I like that, it gets the message across and is understandable but its not directly saying DON'T FLAME

Sure looks like discussion to me...

Iconic, i was never able to play those games, so i've been reading them to find out how much fun was had. I reallt would have preffered that the Admins had kept them there, but if there was some extraneous reason that they couldn't, then i won't blame them. But it was in rather poor taste to have the Admins suddenly post your two posts, which despite being good were not gone over by the entierty of the active tavern, randomly to the sticky pile, removing several high points in tavernian gaming history.

First of all, I have restickied the Hegemony thread but quite frankly I see no point in it being there. It was never entirely removed from the forum so you could access it if you wanted, but I think it looks bad to have a thread stickied that isn't even being used anymore.

In regards to the above two posts, I have always been following this thread so I'm certainly not blindly taking orders as you guys have implied. I went ahead and posted the stickies because they looked ready to me. We have been discussing this sticky for over two weeks (or almost 2 months if you count from the start of the thread). Quite frankly it doesn't need to take this long. Normally stickies like this are discussed, written and posted in a day or less. Changes can still be made even though the stickies have been posted, but keep in mind that it is not the end of the world if we have a role-play being described that doesn't necessarily have to be there or if we are missing a role-play from the list. The sticky is meant to be a very brief overview and introduction to the forum. The descriptions don't have to be perfect and highlight every single element of the games. They are just meant to give the reader a very brief overview of what the game entails and what they can expect.

The Falador Tavern is a role-playing forum open to all users. There are many popular pre-existing role-plays here but all users are welcome to create their own If you see anything that confuses you just ask the GM who will attempt to explain everything to you.

Falador Tavern is a role-playing forum aimed at users who are interested in becoming part of a community of roleplayers.

To join said community all you need is an interest in roleplaying and the willingness to post.

If there is anything you wish to ask then it should be directed to one of these friendly people, posted in the Backroom or asked off the thread creator through the private message system.

Forum Rules & Guidelines

Game moderators run, manage, and set the rules for role-plays.

Individual rules are set for each role-play. Please abide by these rules. If you disagree with them, consult the game moderator.

Flaming is prohibited. All users should be treated with respect.

All other Tip.it Forum Rules apply.

Forum Rules and Guidelines

1. Games are run by the Moderator or Mod or the Game Moderator or the Game Master or the Dungeon Master or the Author, or the Thread Creator. So if you see someone being refered to as any of these terms you can be fairly certain that is the person to PM with any questions you may have about the thread/game.

1.2 If you are ever unsure who the Moderator is then post in the thread asking. If you forget please look back over the thread.

2. Threads may or may not have their own rules laid out in the opening post.

2.1 If they do have their own rules they will be outlined in the Opening Post as fully as the Moderator can, but games are often a work in progress, so if you are not sure, ask!

2.2 If they do have rules outlined then the opening post will probably refer to a well known game type, such as Hegemony or Dungeoneering. These 'Types' are based on Tavern Tradition and may look daunting for new players who don't have a lot of experience with the Tavern, but are based on commonsense concepts which are easy to pick up as you go along. The two main types are outlined at the end of this introduction.

3. In roleplaying debates can sometimes get very heated, just remember, its only a game, no one's feelings need to be hurt. If you see someone being picked on, and you think it should stop, please PM the person who is posting the mean comments and ask them to stop, this will usually solve the problem. If they are rude or refuse to stop, please report them, including as much information as you can, by clicking on this button, next to the offensive post:

Q9SQ0.png

3.1 If you are ever unsure whether or not to post, ask yourself these questions:

Does it Improve on the Silence?

Is what you saying True?

If it isn't True, is it at least Kind?

4. Do not advertise your own game on other people's threads. It can be very hurtful to see people leave your game to play someone else's, and very disruptive to the game.

5. If you think a game could be improved in some manner, PM the Moderator with your suggestions, if the Moderator agrees with your suggestions then he or she will post, asking if the players would be ok with this change. It is important not to become over defensive about your ideas, a big argument in the middle of a thread can really disrupt gameplay, something nobody wants.

5.1 Occassional 'Discussion' threads are started specifically to discuss an individual game. These should only be started by the Moderator as it can be very hurtful to the Moderator if someone else tries to redesign the game while they are trying to run it.

5.2 It is important to understand that the Moderator has the final word here. If you are playing a game and disagree with the Moderator very strongly, so much so you think it may cause problems later, then simply post 'I am sorry [Moderator's Name], I disagree with how you are running this thread and I wish to withdraw from the game.' Losing a player is often saddens a Moderator a great deal, but it is important for both the Moderator and the Player to know where the other stands on the issue.

6. If you withdraw from a game then your forfit the right to rejoin that game later and MUST ask the Moderator. The Moderator has no obligation to allow you back into the game.

6.1 The Moderator is under no obligation to allow any player to take part in a game that they are running.

7. It is the Responsibility of ALL Posters to obey the Rules set out by the Tip It Forum. If they forgo this responsibility then posts may be edited or removed and their accounts warned or banned from the whole Forum.

7.1 It is the Moderator's Responsibility to run the game in a manner that is coherant and user friendly. If they forgo this responsibility then players may choose not play the game any longer.

7.2 It is the Player's Responsibility to play the game is a manner that is coherant and sensitive to the Moderator. If they forgo this responsibility then the Moderator may choose to give the player penalties or may even decide to give up the game altogether.

8. These Rules and Guidelines represent a Voluntary Agreement. There is no reward on penalty for following or not following these rules(With the exception of rule 7.). Failure to follow these rules will simply upset the people who agree with them

9. These Rules and Guidelines have been Ratified by Simple Majority of Falador Tavern Users on the Date _______ And by the Tip It Adminstration Team on Date _______.

@Tripsis:

Arguably it didn't need doing at all....

However, since it is going to be/has been done, then it might as well be done properly...Not a gloss which may not look scary, but conveys nothing as to what the Tavern is or what can be expected from the Tavern.

Especially when the rules you included leave a lot of gaping holes which, on discussing with new members, who have joined over the last two weeks, seem to be the main concern when joining the Tavern...

Quite frankly it doesn't need to take this long. Normally stickies like this are discussed, written and posted in a day or less.

Quite frankly normal forums don't feel let down when the Admin make changes without consulting the users.

We just don't want feel bad...is that so hard to understand?

First of all, I have restickied the Hegemony thread but quite frankly I see no point in it being there. It was never entirely removed from the forum so you could access it if you wanted, but I think it looks bad to have a thread stickied that isn't even being used anymore.

You don't understand though. The hegemony was one of the reasons the tavern was formed. It is a part of the tavern's history, and was pinned because it is our roots. If you ignore this, then I assume you have nothing to say in your defense.

It has sentimental value but no actual purpose. Destickying something doesn't erase the history or the roots. It still exists in the forum and can be read whenever you like. The only purpose it serves as a sticky is allowing people to look at the thread title when they visit the forum and think "Those were fun days." It's like the Falador Library. It's not in use so there's no reason to keep it, but nobody wants to get rid of it because it has sentimental value. And in my opinion, sentimental value doesn't merit a sticky (or a subforum).

Wouldn't it make more sense to just not sticky the old Hegemony thread, and instead just add a list of Historic games (with locked threads so they dont get bumped) with links in the proposed sticky?

It's not like it's just old, but it's the reason we're here, it's what brought us together and eventually caused the Tavern to be born.

As for Dungeoneering, without it (and of course Retech) we would not have had Nexaduro and Earthsage, two of our most important members.

Hegemony made us and Dungeoneering molded us, you could say that those two combined and practically our gods.

That reminds me, the Zombie Survival thread also deserves to be up there... though not locked of course.

I think this sounds like a nice idea, but I don't really feel strongly about either solution.

I do think there should be something drawing attention to the (albeit fairly short) history of the tavern, though.

Wyvern, it sounds good on paper but when it came to actually doing it which games would be included?

People are often quick to believe that their game is the best ever and dismiss everyone else's. Hegemony is a shining example of the Tavern's History and something that we all can agree deserves a special place.

its a given, people won't do that

People already do it.

this isn't useful, people like to gauge interest of other people, suggest during a game. PM's are just another way of saying don't suggest at all because no-ones going to read it

I disagree. The suggestion is either ignored in game or it becomes a discussion point, which is off topic. It also makes a moderator's life more difficult.

I really don't think this should be in the rules and guidlines, its overlly specific and a bit useless, people will ask and if they don't they're a bit wierd

I disagree. It gives people an option they may not have considered.

Thats frankly a bit ridiculous, if they want to sign up again (as a different player or country) they have the same right as a new player, the only thing this will do is mean that when someone is inactive they won't say 'I'm going away, I might not come back' they will just leave not saying anything

I disagree. If a moderator doesn't want someone to play a game then they can ignore them, any other rule wouldn't work.

overtext

It fits with the general style.

This should be a given

Then why not include it?

I thought player penalities (AKA banning) was banned because some people couldn't handle those responsobilitys

Its more to cover:

Player: 'I shoot my guns at the UN'

Mod: 'You are arrested'

Player: 'OMG! THE MOD HATES ME'

if so these rules should be at the bottom with a hide tag, a fitting in guide is too..... much

Not really, these are the rules(or some redraft of them) which the tavern agrees to follow...It is only fair that newcomers should read and respect those rules if they are going to post here.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Too many rules makes it seem intimidating, whether they are called guidelines or not they appear like solid rules.

I now think you just don't want to meet anyone new and are trying to deter them.
