I need to make some super prayer pots, but lack the funds to just go out and buy a bunch of wyvern bones. Instead I'll be killing Skeletal Wyverns. I'm looking for what the best method to kill these with melee would be. Is it better to bring magic defense gear and protect from melee, or bring melee defense gear and protect from magic? Also, what would be an ideal inventory for using a pack yak while killing them?

 

Any input in greatly appreciated.

In my experience melee gear was more effective than magic gear, but the best way to kill them is with a cmaul, soul split, and a uni since they are weak to crush.

Bandos etc., general max offence gear with cmaul, soul split and uni as said above. Overload/extreme pot and turmoil not optional.

Cmaul? Am I missing something here? Don't you need an elemental/mind shield to kill these guys without being slaughtered by their breath?

With soul split, unicorn and some food, you'd be fine. I think people are forgetting that you'll actually want to gather the bones instead of leaving them on the ground(which is what you'd do with unicorn). I maintained my health at ~83 melees with leech defence instead of turmoil, using soul split and some monks (for when you are frozen and can't hit). You should be more than fine. I was using a cannon, too.

I don't have soulsplit.

Cannon + Crapier on slash / whip (or cls if you bought one)

 

If you don't have bandos but have soul split, Proselyte/Void Elite and EEE is fine.

using a cannon will greatly up the speed of killing them, but may cancel out profit, idk.

 

if you do not have soul split or a yak, killing these will be tedious - I'd recommend killing other dragons and selling those bones and buying wyvern bones.

CLS is better then CR because wyverns have obscenely high defense compared to other dragons, and are not weak to stab as other dragons are. Piety if you don't have turmoil. If you really want to gather your own bones, then good luck, but doing something else for money, and then buying the bones would probably be faster.

I agree with the posts above. Without soul split, wyverns are a huge pain. There is no way to protect from their freeze attacks.

The reason I'm not buying them is that bones are on the rise, and I've had an offer in the G.E. to buy them for over 4 hours now, and I've gotten 4 bones.

Doesn't hunting wyverns cost more overall than buying the bones? Or atleast pretty much equal.

Jesus, I can't believe someone with access to frosts is considering going to wyverns instead. Cmon man. Leave an offer for wyvern bones in for max while you do frost trips to get the money back.

I was getting super pray pots so I could last a bit longer at frosts. And by the way, still only gotten 4 bones from the G.E. Whereas I got about 100 bones in less than an hour killing the wyverns myself, which is all I need for now.

Super prayer pots aren't worth it anyway. It doesn't take that long to bank at frosts.
