best magic xp/hr

I am trying to get 99 magic, and I am at level 94. I would love to be able to say money is no matter, but unfortunately I cannot. I have about 10m I would like to spend. I would rather not alch, or tele to cammy 80k+ times. If it is fighting a monster, could you please specify a monster as well? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks to all that reply!

Stunning and alching in between stuns is 150k xp an hour, and fairly cheap.

I did it to get from 94-96 magic and spent about 3-5m, alching gold bars (because they are cheap and not too expensive a loss)

So...about 2.5-3 gp per xp.

combat magic is waaaay more expensive than that unless you are using chaos gauntlets, I think.

I'm working on rough estimates because I'm not the kind that records everything, just so you know :P

[hide=A funny conversation]Me:Have u wondered how my brassard, which leaves my chest bare, give about the same def as ur pile of rocks?

Friend:Hahaha

Friend:Maybe you are just good at blocking with your shoulder?

Me:Ahahahahaha[/hide]Rare drops: 4 D legs, 1 D skirt

Barrows items: 2 Verac's helms, 1 Dhorak's Greataxe, 1 Dhorak's platelegs, 2 Karil's leathertops, 1 Karil's crossbow, 1 Guthan's chainskirt

Quest cape achieved 28 Dec, 2009, lost with Nomad's Requiem, re-obtained on 19 Mar 2010.

Fire cape achieved 1 Nov 2010.

If you do something like string amulet it requires 1 click per invent and is around 150k xp an hour at around 4? gp/xp.

This is the lowest effort non combat xp and isn't overly expensive either.

You also get around 6k crafting xp an hr aswell.

Also check.

For other methods of XP and cost. However it doesn't take into account #of clicks or effort required & super string is probably the least clicks for most xp, aside from combat.

I easily break even or profit from mage slaying, which makes training mage more fun to me then idd teleing billions of times or alching all the time. Attempt to use the highest spell at all times, though potting/wolpertinger should allow you to use fire surge pretty much all of the time. EEE is heavily recommended, arcane stream is a beauty to use. An arcane spirit shield would be a good weapon for its defence bonuses (you need this) and massive mage attack bonus, but I'm still stuck with a simple zammy book.

Right now I only have experience with a limited set of monsters, my slayer master is Kuradal.

Monsters you shouldn't mage slay:

-abberant spectres

-non-chromatic dragons

-waterfiends

-wyverns

-thzaar and volcanic creatures

Monsters you should definitely mage slay:

-chromatic dragons (medium to fast, very interesting for miths too)

-abyssal demons (mostly 4-5 hits using fire surge, use sharks or rocktail)

-hellhounds (round 3 fire surges)

-greater demons (2-3 fire surges, goes extremely fast)

-nechryaels (barrage in ct, makes the amount of time you spend on these tasks go down tremendously, ee/eee should be enough to heal you sufficiently)

-black demons (I blocked these though)

-dust devils (3-4 hits, but do quit some damage, I know of some 'safespot' in ct, in a sense that one dust devil is out of your range, hence won't attack you)

-fire giants (N/A)

-ice strykewyrms

Monsters I'm not sure about:

-bloodvelds (better to just cannon + prossy)

-dagannoth (I just kill the Dagannoth Kings when I get these)

-gargoyles (heard these were OK for maging, but I haven't tested it myself yet)

-strykewyrms (not sure on jungle on deserts, heard it's disencouraged)

-kalphites (blocked for me)

-LRC (I believe these might be nice, but haven't been able to test so yet)

-suqahs (blocked for me)

-terror dogs

-warped tortoises

I disagree with you saying to not mage spectres because I recently maged them at 74 mage using slayer dart and hit most of the time, and over 100 each hit too. Not a lot cause its slayer dart, but it wasn't bad for me.

Everyone is missing the most important alternative, Bursting rock lobsters at Waterbirth for massive Magic and HP exp, and they are some of the best crimson charm droppers in the game.!

My lame drops:

1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Interesting, I read somewhere best not to, but this is interesting. However, do they still hard when wearing full mage gear, seeing as they are very accurate? If so, I'd still prefer to use prossy.

You can use zammy book + sw cape for +17 prayer and prot mage.

Also, Nikolai is right, bursting/barraging would be a pretty good thing to do, even though it costs a bit.

I don't recommend powering to 99 magic without doing anything else with it- magic is one of those skills that mix very well with others. If you hold off, chances are you'll eventually get 99 magic as a side effect of something else you're doing. For example:

Best way to mine involves superheating the ores on the spot for excellent smithing and magic exp.

Best summoning exp is from bursting rock lobsters.

Low alching items while fishing/mining is faster than dropping them.

Fastest cooking exp is pie bake on summer pies.

Hey guys, just an update. I found a method with the help of a friend, which is casting stun on the elemental balance in your house. I know its been thought of before, and I cannot believe I had not thought of that! Either way, it seems like the route to go for speed and cost!

-non-chromatic dragons

-chromatic dragons (medium to fast, very interesting for miths too)

I believe that you have the definition of "Chromatic" wrong. Chromatic means colour oriented ie green, blue, red, black and Metallic is well, dealing with metals.

That said, I am personally a fan of superglassmake.... fairly good xp and very profitable.

"In order to lead, you must learn how to carry your followers upon your shoulders"

"A man is not only defined by his abilities, but also by those of the men with which he surrounds himself"

"The meek fight for skill and fame, the strong fight for power with the skill and fame they already have"

"There is no good without sacrifice and no sacrifice without mercy"

Casting stun on a house elemental is one of the more common methods, but I for one don't like it that much. Compared to something like superheat, it's a lot more click intensive and I think superheat is a better overall gp/xp ratio if you value smithing xp at all.

Bursting/barraging lobsters should be at the top of your list. It may be out of your listed price range, but consider going past that listed range.

It's a lunar spell that creates hunter kits, which are junk. You can cast it in between jewellery strings for added xp.
