Why can't you do large solo dungeons?

Because they want the best exp to be through teams, as they want it to be a cooperative skill. Besides, solo larges would take forever :blink:

I think it has something to do with the memory used for different sized dungeons, and the lag it could cause if 2000 people were doing a solo large on the same server

If people could solo larges they'd do it on lo lag servers.

 

And yeah it is unfair, and solos are a lot more fun, but JaGeX just decided that this has to be a team based skill.

Teams without incompetent noobs are a lot funnier than grinding through the dungeons alone.

 

Therein lies the problem. Either you must be really elite in certain stats (mostly combat), have friends who just happen to live in the same timezone as you, have roughly the same stats and have to be free on the same time or you need to have high Dungeoneering in the first place, which is oxymoronic (needing high DG to train it).

 

Otherwise you're almost guaranteed to be stuck with those incompetent noobs regardless of your skill and expertise.

Firstly because they wouldn't be significantly better xp than smalls or mediums, so there really isn't a need for it. Secondly, because it would cause too much lag and be too 'costly' for the servers. If you want to solo large for fun you can, so there is no reason for an update.

I don't think soloing a large floor where the monsters are meant for 3 people, and the possibly of not even completing them is what he had in mind.

Other than the server lag issue, I can't see any reason why not. It wouldn't be as good xp as teaming yea, but it'd still be something different to do with your time instead of smalls and mediums.

Most likely this. You've seen what 5:5 larges can do to world 117, imagine if there were 5x that amount of lag.

It would probably be more spread among the various worlds, but overall yes the lag would increase vastly.

As have been discussed above, the lag would probably be much bigger if single players were allowed to play through large dungeons. However, I don't think that that was Jagex's main reason to making players unable to solo large dungeons. I think that the main reason was that Jagex wanted Dungeoneering to make players teamwork more and thereby break the trend of all these soloing skills. Jagex wants us, the players, to work more together. Dungeoneering was a step in this process, I believe. And probably we will see more updates like this one.
