Gravestones

Yesterday at frosts, somehow, for reasons which I cannot explain, Shockwave unexpectedly quit on me, causing runescape to freeze and crash. Before I realized that wasn't the problem I wasn't too worried because usually when I lag, RS logs me out even if I'm in combat.

When I realized that reloading RS several times wasn't working, and that "updating" Shockwave didn't do a damn thing, I force restart my computer, and after taking longer than usual to restart, I manage to get back to the login page. I log in... standing in soul wars. Check my inventory and notice my top, bottom, and fury, and no rapier. I frantically begin running back to my spot with 1:30 left on the grave, and am at 10 seconds when im getting near the hobgoblins.

Somehow by a miracle I then notice it get boosted to 1 hour and run in to see someone killing frosts on the other side, and after finding out he was who blessed, I thanked him and gave him 40 frost bones. He said he was about to hop after seeing my cannon, but noticed a grave in the distance so went to bless it.

I dwelled on that simple thought that one person can make a world of difference for another person in terms of time spent for their items. I never really thought that my grave would ever be put to the test in terms of being blessed by someone, but it was, and I am extremely thankful that they took the time to do so.

My experience made me think, I wonder what criteria other players base a possible blessing on? Do you bless all graves, none, or does it just depend? Also, has your grave ever been blessed or served a purpose in terms of you saving lots of time and money yet?

i always bless because i think about it this way. i'd want my grave blessed to get my stuff, so would the other person. i wouldn't want to lose my items.

Well, blessing graves has been been up for discussion many times, it is an interesting topic and I have some experience myself.

I find that on some world like on W42 (roleplaying world) people are on average nicer as what i have experienced. I have been blessed 2 out of 2 times on this world, even when i only risked like 600k. However on other worlds i have risked 3-5 mil and lost it because the persons there said they were afking and didnt notice my grave. Which is obviously a lie because they wanna be mean to me, might have been because they have experienced something similar as i experienced. So what I think matters is if the person able to bless you are rich or not, if hes rich i guess he would bless the grave as he wouldn't earn any noticable amount of looting your grave. But in the end it is up to if you are lucky to meet a nice person or a person that gives [cabbage] about everyone else. Personally i always bless graves i see. I feel that i get back what i give.

Considering blessing doesn't even cost prayer points, I'd bless. Haven't had much experience with needing to be blessed though. I don't think my game has ever crahsed since that funny 'u' alt code glitch. Last time I died was at TDs, which I can easily get back to anyways. Even with the old 5 minute timer of the Angel of Death. Then they made it 6 minutes and now the dwarven one is 15...

I don't think getting blessed 2/2 times really proves anything. Die 10+ times on different worlds, then it might. Just might.

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

I'm not blessing anyone. It's their fault for dying, and if I am lucky enough to loot something very valuable, that would spare me lots and lots of time. It's just not worth it to give up on potentially millions of money for nothing. Except if it's a close enough friend, of course, because I value those over their equipment. Never lost anything really valuable in the era of gravestones, myself.

Which is obviously a lie because they wanna be mean to me

Actually, they are just polite and not rubbing it into your face. If someone tells you "haha moron, I've looted your grave, sucks to be you", that's more distressing than "sorry man, couldn't save you", even though the loss is the same. That's what the irrational half of our brain does to us.

I don't bless <4 minute graves because not having a half decent gravestone means you don't care if you lose your stuff.

Other than that I usually bless.

This.

I died at frost dragons about a week back, the guy there wanted to loot my grave, so he didn't bless it. After about 6 minutes of my 15 minute gravestone, I had everything back and teleported. Told the player thanks for not blessing my grave, never to return to that world - knowing that player wanted to loot my grave and play on my misfortune of disconnecting (which was out of my control).

I saw two people die while frost dragon camping and blessed both of them. Neither of them thanked me, but because they had the best gravestone (dwarven one) it showed me they care about their items, so I was glad to bless them - thanks or no thanks :-)

But yes I didn't expect my gravestone to appear after I had to close the runescape page due to the horrible disconnection I was faced with. Thank goodness I bought the best grave too, I would have lost my fury amulet because korasi's sword (currently) protects over fury ammy o_O

Not blessing a grave just because they don't have the best grave? That's just plain prejudicial. Some people might not even have access to the quest requiring it.

I repair every single grave I see, because I do not have 70 prayer yet.

Please don't call my view on the matter 'prejudicial'. I don't just bless *the best grave* too, I also bless everything down to the basic flat gravestone which costs 50k. If the player can't afford 50k, then that is their problem and they shouldn't play Runescape - items kept on death should be your number 1 priority before even thinking of logging in or going boss hunting for example. Most of the time players who can't be bothered with the basic 50k gravestone are bots. 100% of the time I have seen this. When I do find a legitimate player who dies with the less-than-4-minute-gravestone, I will certainly bless. Until then, I will not bless. I am not prejudice, and I find it insulting that was even suggested. Not nice.

Uh sorry. It's just that, with repairing and blessing costing 0 prayer points, I find that it's mandatory to at least do something to prolong the timer.

Though it's just me. I have this voice in me that always wants me to do the best thing for the player :P

^This, however - maybe I don't play enough or something but I can't say I've been in this situation multiple times.

I've died twice (that I can remember) and one person blessed my grave while the other "claims he was afking"

I usually bless every grave I see (except for those botters you see)

It's always funny to see a gravestone in draynor or something along those lines.

I bless most graves. For example, I was at Irons and this random guy died during a task, and I assumed he lost his DFS since he had Bandos or whatever, but yea, I blessed it, cuz the guy was really cool. We were having a good conversation. He wanted to give me his Zerker Ring and I said no. It wasn't about that.

Now, about 2 weeks ago at GWD some person died who was trying to crash General Graardor, and he had that like 5 minute Gravestone (pretty sad), and I didn't bless it. My friends and I shared the loot. So about 10 minutes after that, the guy showed up and cursing and what not, and just told him he was trying to crash, so he didn't deserve his stuff back. Ahh well.

I always bless every grave I see, unless the owner gives me a good reason not to (being a [bleep], for example), because hopefully, it'll encourage people to bless other people's graves in the future, making the world a generally nicer place
