Bot disappearance?

Featured Replies

So, someone mentioned that the horde of bots mining pure essence behind varrock east were gone. Needless to say, I had a look for myself. I checked several f2p/p2p (including world 1) servers and I found less than 5 toons doing essence runs. Did something happen that I'm missing? Comments?

did you miss the other 10 threads on the first page about botting....?

If you quote me please be sure to note that I'm extremely mad.

Can we stop talking about the freaking bots already? Come on man you registered in 04 you should know these things.

I've been gone for the past five years. Anyway, thanks for the troll  (even though I already mentioned the topic was a mistake).

Did the other posters even read what the op said? This wasn't some other thread about bots, the guy was talking about bots missing. Pretty different than what is normally discussed.

On topic: Perhaps a j mod made a bot banning run through a few worlds and you happen to check those worlds at the right time. As far as i know there hasn't been any big events going on.

Maybe Jagex wasn't lying about their amazing new bot detection system.

NAH

An extremely popular free botting client is about to go paid. You'll see a lot less bots once that happens, and Jagex will swoop in saying they've done some miraculous mass ban (when altogether we know their botting detection is outperformed by some of the more recent scripts).

I personally think Jagex just changed a few ID's around when giving the Runecrafting cape to the new guy in the RC guild. That could mess up a lot of bots mining essence.

If anything, I've seen more bots, not less. Just look at the tzhaar city and try doing your slayer task - it's not possible.

I thought bots had to go through an update or something, right after Runescape updates?

They do..and they did.. That doesn't take them long.. Some of them might not even need to update I suppose.. :wall:

I don't have trouble doing Tzhaar tasks Triq o.O

Maybe people are just botting better things. Whats pure ess worth atm? *looks up*

92 each. More than I thought, but thats not much, and I'm sure there is plenty in the GE waiting to be bought...

This is just pure ess bots. Aubury's game ID was changed when Jagex gave the cape to Larriar.

Also, all the portals in the essence mine have been moved and all given different colours.

Technically, I'm a bot, you're a bot. Everyone is a bot.

An organic bot.

Lets just wait until 2018 when bots have AI comparable to humans. The you would have to bot!

I went to the Varrock rune shop to buy another runecrafting cape right after Mondays update to find that he no longer sold them, and there were at least 10+ lvl 3 characters all just standing in the shop doing nothing.

Was pretty funny really, got my cape in the RC guild so no one panic either.

So -- in summary -- it appears that what has happened is:

1. Jagex altered the script ID for Aubury (by removing his skill cape option); and

2. A botting company is about to go "pay per use", and, as such, hasn't offered the free update for this script change.

wow, Jagex is actually doing something about the mass bot problem?

Naw, all the bots are in line to see the new harry potter movie :P

div>

Jagex is too busy organizing their next Cryptic Clue Fest or some other trash to take care of the bots apparently.

Only by accident ...

I actually got in trouble today. Apparently calling someone a "botter" is racist. You not have to call them a "botta."

It's a joke innit..

Look to your left and to your right. 4 out of the 4 people you just saw are bots.

Apparently Jagex has begun having some form of human-driven bot busting events:

Accounts gathered in latest Bot Busting sessions so far:

5348

...

Not only do we catch hundreds of thousands people through our current systems, but people who think they can get away with it just once or twice by popping in-game to bot now have the added risk of bumping into a group of 200 players, 5+ JMods and a load of PMods. Where we go is random, we cover all worlds and people cheating should be worried.

Must be some new community event that I was unaware of. :P It is stated in the thread that this number will be kept updated as more busting goes on.
