So my friend was doing the Easter Event and just as he was about to finish he ended up in Level 74 Wilderness...? Here's a picture below, all credit goes to Sloth Rider

 

The location of the easter event was put somewhere on the north of the map. Clearly level 74 wilderness, thus it saying he was in the wildy.

Should have brought another player to see if there was an attack option.

This is definitely a crazy bug. As far as I know however, due to that segment being instanced, it shouldn't be possible for there to be multiple people in the same room area. So anyone that's there won't be able to see if anyone's attackable. But, logging out and back in should put an instant end to that Wilderness Status Indicator, which would put their character back to being safe. ;)

A correction: It's not placed in lvl 74 Wilderness, as several different levels have been shown in that exact spot - ranging from -70ish to 150ish on my main and newbie accounts.

Jmods have tested it, and as it is in an instanced area they have chosen not to correct it. Which leaves us with a funny little glitch to screenie and laugh about.

I remember a while back that when entering the Corp lair, the wildy display level briefly turns to 104, lol.

 

But this place is instanced... it doesn't make sense.

Nothing is impossible. Someone who got lucky with a PAFT could end up in the instance of someone else, and thus could possibly kill him.

I always thought that thing maxed out around Wilderness Level 255! Holy [bleep], that takes the possible limits to a whole new maximum! Can anyone else here say "Wilderness Level 2.1 Billion"??? Now I know it's no wonder we had the Falador Massacre, and other various Wilderness-related bugs! :blink:

I don't know if I've ever witnessed a more frustrating poster to read, maybe worse than Undo.

 

Sorry, I don't really have anything constructive to say about the actual topic, but I had to get that off my chest.

There was a big thread about the true world map, and generally, it is seperated into three "maps"

 

First, the actual world map, where everything is connected

Second, is the old "under ground" map, which has much older content placed in according to the actual map, but several thousand squares to the north. This is the "old underground map", because if you would be under varrock in the dungeon, you are simply about 1400 squares NORTH of where you would be underground in varrock.

Third is the "new" map, which is basically every new dungeon place that isn't physically "upstairs" to the real map. They are placed in places just to be there with no consistency.

 

Seeing as how everything is actually on one plain, and "north" of the real map, it isn't uncommon to see the wildy level flash when you are teled to the north somewhere
