If you mine all the essence then you won't lose any gp and will profit by selling the runes.

Balth is correct, personally I didn't bother buying a dragon pickaxe to mine the essence because there was a slight chance that I might lose some cash on the dragon pickaxe.

The fastest and cheapest way to mine the ess would be utilizing the varrock east bank.

For max profit don't use teleports.

If you bring a magpie with you instead of an abyssal familiar, it will pay for itself and then some with gems (including diamonds!!)

 

Also, use home teleport on Lunars to bank and then teleport back to Ourania to save runes.

Well I don't know what runes get made so to be on the safe side we'd have to assume you're just making airs. Using the double experience from zmi and the tip it calculator that comes out at 61,911.5 essence.

Tui's right about the banker. Odds of you making 20+ of one type of rune in a run are low; you may wish to consider using Castle Wars or Edgeville to bank.

Tbh, I would probably mine like 100k pure essence to be safe as the ZMI is entirely random. Make sure to wear weight reducing gear such as agile clothing, boots of lightness and penance gloves.

Enchanting the rings that a Magpie finds would help reduce the cost of the Castle Wars rings.

It saves more money to run through the abyss to repair the pouches- NPC contact consumes runes. You can even bring essence and do a run to the nature or law altar for more profit while you repair the pouches! Then just home teleport and you're ready to go.

You should also spend a few hours gathering spices to boost your RC lvl before going there, so that your RC lvl can be higher than normal, and thus you get more profits from doing each run.

 

Or if you don't want the chance of getting your RC lvl lowered from the spices, then I would go to Dorgesh Kahn or w/e that town is (in Lumby sewers) and get the +2 RC boost from the scientist. I personally did that from 54-77 RC, so I know what I'm talking about. It made me loads of money.

I see a lot of people recommending to use magpies, but what they aren't realizing is that it costs money to obtain the magpie, thus actually making it very difficult to obtain. I stayed away from magpies because of the initial cost.

Eh, penguin points are nice but I always select "Show me the money!" because it would be more profitable.
