Ok, I rarely make topics on tip.it, but I do read and make post's. I haven't decided to call it a break or quit but I haven't played runescape in 4 weeks. which is big for me because I literally play 24/7. I have had WoW (World Of Warcraft) for quite a while and rarely played it. Now i went back to it and love it. Also, one thing I noticed. *ahem* THE COMMUNITY OWNS RUNESCAPE'S !. I mean come on, do you actually think someone would help you and tell you where to train if you were level 15 in runescape? Where as I JUST asked where I should train and I IMMEDIATLY got a resposnse from someone to a place. I also ALWAYS get help from 4/5 people I ask in WoW. OF COURSE there is still wonderful nice people in runescape but they are rare to find! Which is a bad thing if i may add. Just making a opinion/point.

Let's take a look at this mathematically and logically. Firstly the former.

At level 15 in Runescape you are considered a "n00b" because you have only completed a little over 10% of combat (15/126=11.5%).

At level 15 in World of Warcraft you are an okay player because you are actually dedicated enough to the game to have completed 25% of the fighting portion (15/60=25%).

Now for the second, logic.

World of Warcraft costs about 30-40 dollars to simply purchase the game (CD ). Then it costs $15 to simply play it each month. That's three times the cost of our game each month.

To earn five dollars would require to get a MINIMUM wage job and work for literally less than an hour or for a young kid it would require perhaps mowing a neighbors lawn (Mowing the lawn would be weekly, but any good parent would require the child to put money into a savings account, thus teaching them how to earn and save for later).

To earn fifteen dollars would require to get a MINIMUM wage job and work for a little over two hours or for a young kid, set up several lawn mowing jobs. Most kids in my opinion will only stick to their neighbors because they would not want to do too much difficult work (also again any good parent would force their child to save a majority of their money for understanding of money).

Because of the high cost mostly adults (17+) play the game and therefore are generally more respectful and intelligent then your average Runescape player (not all of us are bad, but just alot of us are).

And there you have it.

Tefa is even being generous.

lvl 15 is 10% of combat ratio...exp its nuts..

You can get to lvl 15 in about of 2 hours of runescape play...it takes you Years to get to lvl 90.

You can get 126 in runescape without paying a dime...in wow, im not sure but i bet u pay over $220 AD before you can get whatever the max lvl is..

Imo if you have a lot of time and money to spend on online games, play Wow..but if you don't and you can handle a few losers who have a terrible attitude(yeah i love the irony)...then play Wow

rs used to be composed of people (older, more mature) who actually went on google and searched for a game that they thought sounded good for them. most 10year olds these days cant do that, so just go on the site thats most hyped about in their school (miniclip) and play whatever the people there tell em to play

personally, i have a little 9 year old cousin from England who i told about rs... he cannot read that well... it took him 30 mins to get off tutorial island with me helping him read the texts... and yet he loves the game! the problem is he is almose illiterate and cant play the game properly

this is all sort of off topic now, and i dont know what my final point is (sorry lol)

i guess it was a bad call by jagex... kids are feeling peer pressure, and as such are creating second accounts to try and scam people so they get kudos from their "friends"

i am 14, but am pretty mature dont get me wrong (was put up a year) and a kid i go to school with told me he plays rs...

i always felt like an outcast cuz i played rs... i dont know why... but this guy told me what he does on rs...

first he told me he gets on his second account sometimes with his 2 friends and goes aroung trying to scam other people..

i was disgusted... i said "how can you do that?? you are ruining a perfectly good game for hundreds of other people, dont you care? its just like stealing??"

he just shrugged and walked away... and i never spoke to him again...

i have no idea why people are so cruel... but they are. and theres nothing really we can do about it (for free i mean, if your p2p ur pretty safe...

I have, and pay for WoW, and RuneScape. I may be the only person who thinks this, but... RuneScape is better than WoW in my opinion. There is nothing to do in WoW, just fighting really. Dueling, battlegrounds, monsters... it's all the same. In the battlegrounds and dueling, paladins and rogues own anyone else, period. In battlegrounds, it's basically capture the flag, but you can use your weapons unlike Castle Wars. However, battlegrounds is kinda bias, either the Alliance wins it flat out (3-0), or the Horde wins it flat out (again, 3-0), there is no inbetween, there is no "close" game, it's all just which team has the most high levels. As well, you can only use 2 skills at a time, like mining and blacksmithing, or engineering and tailoring, it's horrible.

Sure, the people are great and all, but the fact still remains that it's boring. You need about 20k xp to get from level 19 to 20 (very rough estimate, I played a long while ago) and each monster you kill gives you about 70xp, at the most if you're lucky. Some monsters even give you 6xp. That takes forever to get a level, and it's just so repedative, even worse than RS. No one talks there really, and the prices on enchanting are outrageous. Money is, however, VERY easy to get, no merchanting required. Just mine 20 copper (requires level 1 mining and a pickaxe), and sell it at the auction house for 1g (that's a good amount of money by the way). It is SO easy to get money and good items in that game, it's rediculous, almost as bad as RuneScape I might add. They don't have many (if any) autoers though, so that's good. Oh, and they don't have 12 year olds running around... god I wish membership were increased to $15 a month...

I haven't tried WoW, but most of my real-life friends who used to play RS moved to that game. I've worried that I was missing out, but from the looks of CWolf's post, I don't have to worry about that. I do a lot more non-combat than those friends did, it makes sense that I'd like it better here.

Yes, raising the price would keep more kids out of the game. But the downside to that is that it would cost more money.

I second that is better in WoW because its older players, im in college and i play multiple games online and I have seen all sides of all the games. It gets annoying in RS, everyone saying everyones pics are fakes (WHO CARES, your not cool if it is fake, and your not if it isnt fake). People not being nice at all in game, being outlandish for stipid trivial things. Makes me sick.

So what if the level difference is different. still the same point and question to ask where to train  and no im not changing people to WoW or saying WoW is the best idea/game/timeofyourlife. Just commenting about the community. and whoever it was that said about the money wise and how ages are older and more mature because they are older to pay got me good because i AGREE. yes this topic is about the community but i agree because the people are older. and not like the snob kids in rs. me being 14 and mature for my age has played for 2 years and noticed many things about runescape. thanks for comments.

I don't know why people bother comparing RS and WoW, over and over again.

Or perhaps I should go to some WoW forums and say "I don't play WoW, but RS own5or2 W0W"

Raichase, quit Runescape.

Time issues really, nothing against the game itself. Something had to go, and it happened to be the addictive game that costs money to enjoy :)

Best of luck to all of my friends here!

There are times I would gladly help out my fellow Runescapers but there are other times, I get so exasperated by the most lazy, not-bothered-to-help-yourself questions.

Some of my pet peeve questions: -

Q1: Where is ?

Come on people, there is a world map. Please click on it and check it out. It is put there for a purpose.

Q2: Questions pertaining to the Sudoku mini-game.

It is difficult and lengthy to explain the game. When someone recommends you to search the web for, "Sudoku", don't whine about high levels being too proud and not willing to help.

Q3: How do I get a , e.g. berserker ring, lava cape, barrow sets?

The process to obtain these items cannot be worded through a chat screen. There are guides spanning pages detailing the entire process. When you are told to go to fansites and search for this info, that doesn't mean I am not helping you.

Q4: You are a high level, you must be rich. Can I have some fr33 st00f, pl0x?

Ok, first things first, what the hail does "fr33 st00f, plox" supposed to be? Some cheap leetspeek imitation? It's supposed to be, "|=.-33 57|_||_||=, |>73453". 'Nuff said.

Secondly, I am not obligated to help you in any way just because you aren't bothered to at least attempt to earn the items that you want yourself. The fun of playing the game is attaining things on your own. I may be a high level but I don't own a dragon chain myself so don't expect me to give one to you.

Q5: How do I teleport to elf city?

This is where I get called a high level noob. There are certain areas that can only be accessed once you do a series of quests. When I tell you I can't help you verbally in doing the Underground pass, quit calling me a noob. *Sigh*.

Q6: Series of quesitons: -

Q: Where can I train where I can get good prayer XP also?

A: Try Hill Giants

Q: Where can I find those?

A: Edgeville dungeon

Q: Where is Edgeville?

A: Please check world map

Q: Just tell me plz

A: GAH! It's NW of Varrock

Q: Where is Varrock?

A: GAH! CHOKE! GASP!

Q: Is there any other faster way to get there?

A: There is a dungeon entrance just west of Varrock before you cross the river. However, you need a bronze key to open the door first.

Q: How do I get the bronze key?

A: Well, you have to use the Edgeville entrance first to gain the key.

Q: N00b, I will still be using the long way.

A: Somebody please end me!

So you see, sometimes it's not that the RS community is not helpful. I've done plenty of helping myself but on some days, I get those hair-ripping, nail-removing ignoramus that can drive me up the wall.

If your Alliance you wont get it. Try playing Horde, and level up from level 10 in barrens. Youll see.

how about a minimum age for runescape :P

Wouldn't solve a thing I'm afriad. I've met better 13 yr olds in runescape than some of the 21 year olds. Face it, if someones not taught values and respect for others, they will behave the same at 13 as they will at 40.

I'd put on some armour though, because you're going to have a lot of angry younguns howling for your blood, and some of the older people who never matured going "hurr hurr, he right!"

Still, there are some little brats out there :P.

Raichase, quit Runescape.
