Finding DG Parties

Hey guys,

 

 

I know this is a pretty common question, but what is the best way to find people to DG? I guess you could say I 'joined' a clan (EoE), but no one really ever does DG, at least when I'm on around 11pm est. I really, really want to DG to level 90 or so, so I can get some good chaotics, as well as further my all 85+ goal.

 

But here are the persistent issues I am running up against:

 

- High non combat skill levels makes non friends get angry due to high door requirements

 

- Just came back from quitting, so I am not really up to snuff with all DG terminology

 

- Still not the fastest DG'er on the planet

 

- I work at my job from around 11am-11pm or so, so I don't really DG but late at night

 

- I have horrible lag on W119 and W117, to the point where any door on a large will give me door lag for like 5+ seconds

 

- I do not have a darn hood yet, despite doing like 20 floors on med c6 solo, only finding one night spider

 

-Due to not having hood, while I do participate (of course) in all guardian doors etc, I am a bit of a prayer/food hog.

 

On the plus side:

 

 

- I am a very fast learner, and so far I've corrected any obvious mistakes that I've come across

 

- I can handle myself, I tend to not die, and while I do tend to eat a lot of food, I don't steal food from other peoples kills

 

- I don't waste time mining and collecting pointless resources that tend to just drag on the game

 

- As soon as see I the sign "gtgd" or such, I do it. I don't dawdle.

 

- I am very amicable

 

- While I do lag a lot on doors, again I try to make up for it by not [bleep]ing around like I see most do it.

 

 

Idk.

 

 

Where should I look for a place to DG? Are there clans/clan chats specifically for DG and nothing else? And even though I'm not the most pro DG'er in the world, I honestly am getting better by the day.

 

 

But I really need to knock out these floors 30-34 so I can get 75 DG and then do floors like 36-38 or whatever. I want that CR so badly.

edit: one of the other issues is with a large map, are there usually patterns to the doors? Of course there's a keyer, but do people just do free-for-alls on the doors, doing every single one they see? Or do they concentrate on one specific 'path?'

I will respond to each point with my own:

 

-Then you should be johnny on the spot with doors. Carry a bunch of law and cosmics for gatestoning the dg. Do this, or find less skill-nooby friends :P

 

-there are lots of guides on dging. Here's one: Dungeoneering Tips and Tricks

 

-read up on that guide and additionally with practice you'll get faster

 

-i don't know why this is relevant

 

-don't dungeoneer on those worlds. only try to either solo or go with friends you can trust and go on an emptier world

 

-just stick with a platebody for now

 

-learn to pray flash, kite, and prioritize monsters (getting 95 prayer for ss would be really helpful)

 

 

As for your positives, that's all good :)

 

Ideally, you would find some friends who are frequently on and dg with them. Otherwise you can try to apply to dg clans like dgs or dung mates.

 

As for your edit, pathing in it of itself is a bit of an art and something that is best learned through experience. There are some guides on the subject out there, but I'm too lazy to fish one out.

You should poke Obtaurian and ask him to grab some guys to DG with you. I wouldn't mind helping you continue with DG since I still have tons to learn there, too.

 

For larges, people tend to each take their own path really.

1. Don't be impatient. If you don't find a team, do something else and try again later.

2. Multi-team. You can join 2 clanchats (clan and guest), as well as a friend chat. Use them. Use friends too - add people who want to dg with you, and dg with them.

2b. Try different official forums teams. Some might be nice, others might not. Trying them out can't hurt much. When you try them, make sure you read AND follow their rules, however stupid they may seem at first.

Honestly, yeah I really shouldn't just sit around and mope. I sat at Heim for like 3 hours last night waiting, albeit I was also watching tv at the time, I could have done slayer to get 99 for that Hex.

That's the advantage of using clan/friends chats to organise floors, you can be doing whatever and then teleport to heim when your team is ready.

During downtime like that I do my C2's. If those are done and you still can't find anyone consider paying for floors. Many people frown on it but for people with lots of cash laying around that also have irl stuff to do (such as homework) its a fine option, no different than buying a cooking/firemaking imo.

If you're paying for floors then you'll likely be using randoms from 148 anyway. So you may as well just go and join somebody already advertising a sold floor (will say s/l at the end of their floor type/number required to go, eg. abd+2 s/l). Buying floors is good if you want to afk but you seem to be interested in actively participating in the skill rather than sitting at home.

Try looking into dgs, im pretty sure i see eoe pics in the screenshot thread and they dung all the time, i wouldnt bother paying for floors so early, i feel like around level 70 and up you make the switch from novice to semi decent, and that i feel is a big step... but thats just me, try your hand at c2s in downtime.. 117, good to see you farming though!

It really is hard to find a dg clan that is always doing multiple floors 24/7, the closest thing to this is w117 and w148. Your best bet is training any skill, and as soon as you see a dg up jump in. And yesterday almost no one was dging because they were all at dominion towers, people dg depending on mood. And there are a large number of members who are in est-ish time zones.

 

A good way to solve these problems is learning to key because it will make people more likely to dg with you, otherwise you'll have to wait around until someone else who can key advertises a floor. Even if you're still getting the basics of dg right now, try and observe what a keyer does and be independant.

But the best thing to keep your team happy, make laws and cosmics, buy a toolkit and the second a keyer says gt x skill, do it or inform them why you cannot.

If you value your cr at 50 mil then go for it. Wesellfloors friends chat sells ab2 floors for 2 mil each and occ/warp for 2.3 mil each.

Another thing is to gate USEFUL doors. Gating a key door right next to ht or close to gt is not ideal. Or a couple rooms away for that matter. I find gating areas that are FAR away and inconvenient to walk to, useful. Plus, Gating a room that leads to 2 or 3 different key doors is ideal as well.

Ex: you gate Gr sh, but y sh and cr dia are 3 rooms west, and 101 woodcutting is 2 rooms north.

 

By the way. Dg's on the weekdays are hard to find imo, because school work/home work/bed time. So yeah, if it comes to it. Re-enter the deadly world of 117.

 

 

EDIT: Reminding the keyer where things are located helps and speeds up the floor, we all tend to derp, and having another person help refresh your memory is greatly appreciated.

If he has the cash to burn and doesn't actually care about the skill (just wants his chaotic) why the hell do you care so much if he buys floors or not?

Would he even have enough tokens by the time he burns through his cash pile for a chaotic? He's going from 75-85, and even if he gets a person at 1mil per floor, will 50 floors at 2k tokens doesn't seem like it would be enough. Might be wrong, but it just kind of seems like a waste of cash.

I'm pretty sure leech floors at 75 DG are worth at least 5k tokens each, so there's not too many he'd have to do.

Also, wesellfloors are great, after buying a few floors they started keying my floors with three ranked members, and in one large I was leeching in they reached the boss in 12 minutes 0.0 . Most floors (opening every door) take 20 minutes, but you have to bear in mind that you'll be getting very fast experience, I got 180k tokens in three days, which ain't too shabby.

I can get that in a little over 1 day for free. Aint too shabby.

And I decided against buying floors, and instead bought 90 Farming. Because I enjoy DG'ing so I don't want to throw away money like that.

 

 

Also spending 2m for 50k xp sounds utterly ridiculous. I mean... That's extortion.

 

 

But yeah so I bought a bunch of palms/yews and I'm just farming those while I wait for people to populate into EOE.

 

I do have interests of getting 99 DG AND 120 DG, I just also want 99 Slayer quite badly, so I'm going for 85-90 DG and then I'll get 99 Slayer and then maybe skill other skills a bit.
