Guest jrhairychest
Sure does. Don't worry, the twins come out of hiding once the water goes away. It's not even noticeable there. My chest/back is where I notice the cold the most. That is not very reassuring. Just me being a big girly wuss about it.
highlanders
Apparently alternating between very hot and very cold water in the shower is also good for health, boosts circulation and such. Very hot being as hot as you can go without burning/hurting yourself obviously. Never tried it but sounds interesting, and less difficult than cold-only showers. 2480+ total

Too much work, showering is a relaxing time for me. My face looks/feels a lot better after a hot shower than a cold one, but other than that these cold showers have felt pretty good. ~~~The Harpy List~~~Harpy Facts~~~It's Super Effective~~~The Beginning~~~Harpy Therapy Center~~~Alg~~~Jedi Harpy~~~Rohirrim~~~Attenuation~~~
Kirschen
Lately, due to the weather getting more annoying (even though it's mostly rain), I haven't really been doing cold showers and been doing lukewarm at the coldest. Maybe it's a bit odd of a feel if I did cold showers when the weather is cold like how I never touch the hot faucet when it's summertime.

Sbrideau
Tried it today, and it feels awesome. I did have to put a little bit of hot water so that it wouldn't get too cold (especially when it's close to -20C here). Maybe I didn't notice a huge difference because of the fact that my showers already weren't warm enough to fog the mirrors.
obfuscator
Well, a month (almost) of doing cold showers now....and it's awesome. Never going back! I do wish I had a thermometer of sorts though just to see how cold the water is. I figure the water I was showering with originally was somewhere in the 5-10 C range (couldn't get it any colder). But now that it's been -10/-15 outside for a few days I figure the water is just above zero, and it's noticeably colder. mlskid
I was browsing through this forum the other day and was interested by the findings so of course, I had to try it... I failed miserably first time I tried it yesterday, but still felt more energised after the shower anyway. Maybe that was just me being hyper though and I was just imagining it. However I took another one today and went to see my girlfriend, and in the first few minutes of seeing her, she immediately asked why I was so hyper. I told her that instantly and she shook her head at me. :) Thanks for this, I'm pretty sure whenever I feel tired from now on I'm taking a cold shower to wake me up. Estonian dude
Well, it is common knowledge here in Estonia that it boosts your immunity. I used to have cold showers every summer, and it has helped me be ridiculously healthy. But I missed them this summer and I can already feel the effects on my body. I have been more sick this autumn than I have been in the last 10 years in total. And I am under medications atm, so I cannot start having them again. Duff
I will try it today... If I'm feeling gutsy. EDIT: Had to turn it to warm. Was breathing so hard cause of the shock that I started getting light headed and almost fell down. Lol. | My Tumblr |
Tim
Bloody hell. I tried it this morning, it was a more cold shock to my body then the time I walked around in my briefs in the snow to troll my parents 7 years ago. Certainly woke me up at least, think I'll keep trying it each morning to help me get over what happened recently. Popoto.~<
H2PM
Warm showers sound really nice when you wake up to 20 degree mornings.I'll give it a proper shot after winter. Estonian dude
Well, I found it better to start warm and then go on colder and colder. It worked specially best when we had swimming classes in school, 'cause the water in the pool was freakishly cold. But when you had just come out of an ice-cold shower, the water felt warm to start with and one could get used to it faster. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. Giordano
Aww, I wanted to try this in a truck stop shower when it was 35 degrees out, but the water was automated to be warm. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
