Cold Showers

I've always taken cold showers. Basically I started it because of my Finnish roots, in which taking dips in frozen lakes is common practice for reasons similar to those you mentioned for cold showers. I do live by a lake, but I wasn't about to drive out to it everyday for a dip, so I started taking cold showers. I also take saunas for the same reason (Finnish roots). I prefer the saunas because of how good it makes me feel sexually. Cold showers, as mentioned move the blood to the core and basically negate sexual urges. Saunas give the opposite effect.

I wimped out yesterday but did it today. That was probably my fastest shower ever. Afterwards, everything felt warm as if it had just come out of the dryer. I don't know if it was because of the shower or not, but I was in a great mood all day today. I might be doing this more often.

Come support my max total goal here.

Briobe122's 10-step guide to staking:

1. Get cleaned

2. Vow to never stake ever again! (very important)

3. welfare tds and get claws

4. kill glacors til i get boots

5. bandos ffa or more tds til i have around 50m

6. realize that it is far too hard to rebuild using steps 3, 4, and 5

7. give up the vow to never stake again

8. go back staking and make your bank back

9. if you failed at step #8, Go back to step #1

10. if you succeed at step #8, you will eventually feel the need to make money for rich people stuff, have a bad day of staking, then get cleaned anyways

Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

Today I took a hot shower and then decided to do the last 10 seconds with freezing cold water. Probably made it worse than just doing freezing cold from the beginning.

Yeah-- if you only do 10 seconds you aren't really getting much out of it either :\

This is what I did. It sure as hell woke me up. But then I got tired again after an hour or so.

Next week I'll try full on cold.

Just had my first cold shower. I started with the tap in the middle, so it was cold but it wasn't at it's coldest, then I decided to man up and put it on the coldest setting. I came out of the shower laughing, and I don't feel tired. I'm doing that more often.

Feels good man.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I shall try this in the morning. Or run&Jump right into the pool. Wish I lived at the beach tbh, would be better. I know first-hand when I woke up near the beach one camping trip, a jump into the surf really woke me up.

I've taken two cold showers in my life and neither of them made me feel particularly refreshed. First one was when my roommate didn't wake me up at debate camp and I slept past when the water heater was on, and the second time in the dorms the shower closest to me was broken and the other one only had cold water. Maybe it'd be nice if I then didn't have to step into the freezing weather afterwards, but they just generally shut me down and draw inwards to warm myself back up.

EDIT: Maybe the problem is I focus on how cold I am when what you're supposed to do is realize that you're cold and not dwell on it so that you shift your attention to things outside of your body. Sort of like the old "Oh, your finger hurts? Here, I'll punch you in the stomach. Bet your finger doesn't hurt now, does it?" Bullocks to that.

I don't and I never will if I can avoid it  I like shower time (or bath time, when possible :P) as a time to relax and think. For me that's best done in warm showers. I like to just calm down and let my mind be at ease and think about whatever comes to mind. I actually do some of my best thinking in the shower. While a cold shower might wake me up or energize me or whatnot, I don't think it would be a good way of relaxing and thinking for me.

I couldn't do with cold showers. It's like going from zero to sixty in no time whatsoever... I bet somewhere in the day you'd end up crashing mentally because of it, probably after lunch where you're basically given the opportunity to sit down, stay inactive and eat lots of carbs. I tend to wash in the evenings with a hot bath to relax me and ensure a good quality night's sleep. That usually helps me with memorising information and planning my day ahead, if I wake up and don't feel so tired.

That's the only downside of this wondrous thing. You loose the chance to contemplate the universe.

After reading about this yesterday I decided to do it this morning... and I failed.

At first I was standing there, finding some courage to actually turn on the shower. Which wasn't easy since I just woke up.

After just standing there I thought it would be a better idea to start off with a hot shower and after a few minutes turn it down to 15C.

When finished washing I somehow managed to turn the heat down all the way, but I think the shower tried to say something along the lines of; ''Are you sure about this mate?'' cause it just stayed hot for another 10 seconds or so.

It took me another ~5 seconds to realise I wasn't enjoying the cold water at all!

Maybe it will work tomorrow... we'll see.

This cold shower business...Does this include the groin area......? As in freezing cold water on the man spuds? :x

Sure does. Don't worry, the twins come out of hiding once the water goes away.

It's not even noticeable there. My chest/back is where I notice the cold the most.

I tried this for a second time

everything_went_better_than_expected.jpg?1257510959

Shower was a lot shorter

Woke me up better

Felt warm after ~30 seconds

Didn't fog up mirror

I get a good night's sleep and don't "crash" at school unless something happened the day before.

I still like my hot bath time though.
