Meh, it may be dogma, but I'm pretty goddamn sure that living six months in the game's top village taught me a lot about the game.

 

No offense, but the majority of you guys quit in about a month of playing the game, never progressing past linen clothing for the most part. Let's face it. I progressed to where I got bored because I had settled down, earned some (what's the opposite of debt?) and was just harvesting pumpkins and replanting the best seeds every so often.

Claims shouldn't be working any differently from last map. Get the tracking skill ASAP.

 

Either your guys are randomly taking [cabbage] (which happens for most groups when starting), or some of the "friendly" locals are taking your [cabbage] from you.

 

Try to get some people with rage and tracking soon. You can make a palisade (your camp is temporary anyway) to keep out intruders, but that will consume a lot of resources that you need (assuming you all don't have backpacks yet).

Indeed it will, but it is worthwhile...since if we don't have one we might never get a flax/hemp seed, thus all the silk moths in the world would be useless.

We are not a mid-late game village with seeds on tap...we have zero seeds and any seeds we want to get will take 16 hours to mature.

 

So we need somewhere that is secure for 16 hours.

Hence not with a load of unfamiliar faces.

Hence not focused on collecting silkmoths.

Hence building a palisade with a claim and a key...

We need rustroots, then we can start on that when we find a mine. We need to get someon up to a perception*exploration of at least 500.

Heres a good suggestion.. You know that Cave colin found? What if we use that as a storage area thingymambober? Like.. If we can put a drying rack in there, use that as a safe house for the all important WWW seeds. Put a claim inside it, and wall it off, if that's possible. I can set up a Hearth Fire there and stayif you need me to...

Mostly I'm making a few connections. I told the one I met, who was travelling to the village they had just joined, that I had come exploring from my village far to the North somewhere. We're too far away for them to really figure out the location of Falador from my words, if they care. The person I talked to spent 6 months of last world in a five-person village, so I don't think they have dangerous friends at the moment.

 

Also, I diverted them from Archi and myself, who were setting down in a fairly ideal spot when Archi heard someone chopping wood. Currently they don't know about Archi or our camp, think I'm leaving soon, and are showing no hostility. I was going to give them a few chantrelles and stuff I found as a sort of gift. And hey, if I ever run into trouble my friendship with Anny might save me.

I enjoy the game and will be playing it anyway for >2 months so I might as well settle down. I dont fully understand the game but I would like you to please include me in the schematics for your new village.

Although Ive never really done any building in Haven and Hearth I think an idea would be to double palisade the area, this wont stop anybody who has levels to destroy the palisades but it will slow them down. I also think it would be nice to have a town centre in the middle and houses on the outside.

Regarding Haven and Hearth, I think animal husbandry would be a useful skill to invest in. If nobody else wishes to research it I would happy to be a Shepard; I found some Mouflon in my boat travels. If we could domesticate some sheep it would give us a steady income of mutton and leather.
