You're really underestimating the human brain's effect on our physiology here. If the placebo effect lets belief alone cure or cause illnesses, then of course sheer willpower can control the release of hormones.

Some fakirs can even stop their heartbeats. So tell me, why can't our brains supposedly control our hormones?

Mather that is more or less what I said. If you can delude yourself into thinking something is true then it, within reason, becomes true.

Research has shown that people who unknowingly take placebos -- sometimes pills, sometimes injections -- often feel relief from pain, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders and high blood pressure. But placebos don't help people recover from diseases like cancer. "They're more likely to be effective when there's a perceptive component to the illness," Spiegel said

If you 'know' then the placebo effect doesn't come into play, so it is irrelevant.

Fakir's Row. A fakir is defined in the English dictionary as a holy man possessed with miraculous powers. At the time of the Fair, a fakir was more akin to a con man.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

It's not deluding it's assuming control. Saying I'm deluding myself into releasing hormones is like saying I'm deluding myself into moving my arm to type this.

My glands don't release hormones because I think they release hormones, I will my body to release them and wait for a change of condition before I decide to believe whether they're releasing hormones or not. Just like my arm doesn't move because I think it moves, I will my arm to move and wait for the neural feedback before I decide to believe whether it's moving or not.

Alright.. So Arch, why don't we discuss an already running Tekkit Server then? Seeing as none of us can run the thing ourselves. Sound good?

Most hormones are released by the part of the brain that you cannot consciously control.

It's the same reason why you can't breathe past a certain point and have your lungs expand completely to their physical "maximum" size.

Okay, enough the the damn debates please. It's fairly annoying.

Oh, and does anyone know the acidity level for a drink called Koolaid? A friend at school said it's highly acidic... not sure to believe that...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_the_Kool-Aid

The expression has also been used to refer to the activities of the Merry Pranksters, a group of people associated with novelist Ken Kesey who, in the early 1960s, traveled around the United States and held events called "Acid Tests", where LSD-laced Kool-Aid was passed out to the public (LSD wasn't illegal in the U.S. until 1966). Those who drank the "Kool-Aid" passed the "Acid Test". "Drinking the Kool-Aid" in that context meant taking LSD.

Might have meant that....

But Kool-Aid, in the more mundane setting, is mostly citric acid mixed with water. The only way to find out how much acid it has in it is to look at the side of the bottle/carton and see what percentage of acid it has in, or use some litmus paper and alkaline, using a process known as Tritation.

Most of the time different flavours contain different concentrations and so on.

Typically the acid level in fizzy drinks is not harmful though.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Hmm. Why don't we give the one Mather suggested a try? I can take a look at it later today and then tell you what I think of it.

Don't be silly, obviously Mather would just turn the insides of his lungs into a four-dimensional space that allows him to survive in airless atmospheres

No, your lungs cannot expand further because they aren't physically capable of expanding further. Though lungs do make a nice analogy in terms of breathing; it's something we usually do automatically, but can assume control of.

Though you are right in that the glands that produce hormones are subject to the unconscious part of the brain, those unconscious parts of the brain however can receive commands from the conscious parts, meaning you can relay commands to the glands given you make the effort to do so.

Its rather impressive how a small number of colour and focus changes turns 'Evening Sunset House' into 'The house where everyone was murdered'

Assuming you wake up one day, you should watch Okamisan, Mather.

Aside from anything else, it's narrated by Kuroko's voice actor from Index.

On a separate (but also weeabootastic) note:

Maybe this will help you sleep.

How blatant is the parody? Because apart from that it's perfect.

I actually woke up 10 hours ago but went back to sleep because I saw no point in going to school if I was going to be a zombie.

What do you mean? It doesn't seem to parody anything in particular, it just has a bunch of general semi-self-aware silliness.

If you're asking whether it's comparable to Index, it isn't. Simpler, less serious, and in a twisted sort of way manages to make a bit more sense. At least, to my mind.

It's listed with Parody as one of the genres on Anime Planet. I want to know how significant the parody is because if it is as heavy as it is in Hayate no Gotoku, it has the ability to ruin the entire series.

And no anime is comparable to To Aru Majutsu no Index, it's one of a kind, however my reportoire extends far beyond that.

Here's my list on Anime Planet: http://www.anime-planet.com/users/TheMather1/anime

Huh... That's not a small list...

Dear god some of the stuff on it, though... I mean really, I expected better of you. You won't watch Gurren Lagann, but you'll watch that demi-pornographic drivel?

I'm pretty sure one of those is actual porn, as well...
