Is RuneScape 3 What We Need?

Vio

No. This game has come far enough to need another one. The graphics keep updating beyond what we ever thought they would get to. We are already playing rs3

Don't know if i'd transfer to RS3, I'd probably be more inclined to finish maxing but who knows. By the time they're releasing such a thing i'm sure i'll be long bored of the current game.

You don't see it coming next week; You don't say ;P

RS3 will be discussed when RS2 is really holding back their possibilities, the game is still constantly improving (some things are a bit restricted but they are ignored as long as possible).

When they reach the moment that it becomes inevitable it is going to be hard maybe even too late.

I agree on the fact that things are too crowded, If i walk from place to place I see distractions everywhere and people... its like I am in one huge town instead of having that feeling that you just left a town and now have to wait a little while before you arrive at a bank or something.

Me and the wise old man go way back.... he was a foolish boy back then.

My crystal armour idea.

Why so hateful of videos?

If Jagex makes an RS3 it better look like this

You actually reminded me of something I didn't quite mention.

I'd love to see skyboxes - that extra dimension where you can look up.

That's something Jagex have stated they can, but won't add in because of the sheer amount of effort it would take to make all the RS2 elements work with.

I've moved your topic to RS Media as this is primarily a video (and that video is primarily talking). If you want to make a discussion topic on forums, maybe it's a good idea to write your arguments down :P.

I've written this as a response to the topic, rather than your terrible commentary on your day.

Yes. They should be saving the effort put into graphical updates and combat balancing for a new RuneScape-themed game that isn't flawed from the start. Their peacemeal efforts to improve the current RuneScape aren't getting them very far.

The strengths RuneScape has are its lore, unique personalities and styles, freedom, and ease of access. If they took these qualities and applied them to a full-fledged game, riding the RuneScape name and losing the grind, still-subpar graphics, and "kiddie feeling", they'd go very far indeed.

RuneScape 3, or whatever they might call it, needs to be on a shelf in GameStop/Walmart/Target/Best Buy. It needs to have TV commercials. It needs to have GameInformer and PCGamer articles. It needs the full effort, skill, and backing that JaGEx is capable of but rarely ever puts forth.

They've carved Pinochio and he's come to life; now it's time for him to become a real boy.

I know the graphics have dramatically improved in recent years, but you still can't call them "good" and leave it at that. It's always, "RuneScape's graphics are good... for a 10 year old browser-based game."

Feel free to disagree in part or in full, I really don't care. I strongly believe that what they have is a creature of grand potential, trapped inside a coccoon of safety and reliability that they may never leave, even to the bitter end. And it's such a damn shame to see grand potential wasted.

I very much hope that the Transformers MMO is a way for them to get legitimate studio backing, and at that, that it flourishes.

We need to go back to Runescape 1 not 3 if you get what I mean.

When I started playing rs wasn't about shiny armour or stuff or wings or any other bs like any other mmorpg, it was special.

It was about the community and having fun, raising levels was secondary, that all changed when in 2007 skill capes arrived and suddenly everyone had to get one.

If you actually look at the number of hits runescape.com site has been getting its been going straight down since... you guessed it - 2007.. the community simply just isn't there anymore.

All these futile attempts by jagex to revive the game and make money are horrendous, they don't realize what made this game so popular in the first place(2003-2007) in the "golden age" of rs there wasn't any "eye candy" to speak of.

Besides since the bot bust the game is practically broken for many players (me included) because of the performance issues even on a powerful machine its unplayable. At least for me and seeing the constant memory leaks I can only contend that its 100% developers fault.

I'd rather have the current graphics than an Rs that looks like that to be honest.

Reminds me of the Elder Scrolls.

But on a serious note, you're [bows] right. Even Nintendo, which for so many years with the GameCube and the Wii dug its heels in over whether it should be graphically competitive with the more powerful PS2/3 and Xbox/X360, has now accepted it needs to join the arms race with the revelation that the Wii U will have HDMI. RuneScape is a part of dying breed when it says, "We don't need graphics because our gameplay makes up for it."

there are a few problems that are blatant for alot of us... the way the runescape economy is much to "mercher friendly" really is unpleasant. the "futility of trying to catch up" kinda sucks... if my old character wasn't taken i'd be maxed, but loosing it forced me to quit for years upon years... and when i decide to play again trying to catch up to maxed guys seems impossible...

but for the mostpart i like right now as much as i did rsc... i played from 01(literally last day of 2001 :P) to 2006, [i was 1 week from 99 str and it was a feat then :(] and i did enjoy it, but there's alot now that i do like...

and runelower "It was about the community and having fun, raising levels was secondary, that all changed when in 2007 skill capes arrived and suddenly everyone had to get one."

in runescape classic it was a crazy rush to be the first, or one of the very few to get a 99, and if not training arduously (training methods were much slower then) then you'd be at varrock's north wilderness wall, but a community? no for the most part runescape is more "community-baased" now, especially with the advent of clans.

AND THE REASON THERE IS HIGHER LEVEL WEAPONS IS BECAUSE THERE ARE HIGHER LEVER MONSTER'S THAT MOST OF US ASKED FOR, OTHERWISE DO YOU THINK YOU COULD SOLO CORP IN FULL RUNE, LOBS AND A STRENGTH POT?

iOwn.... (kinda)

I've often felt a similar way as well. The early days of RS weren't planned for going this far into the future, a lot of RS is a huge grindfest by MMORPG standards (and most MMORPGs are grindy)... They need to rework how skilling works almost entirely so that some skills aren't really slow or useless (or both) to level. For example, you should be able to make a Rune Plate at lvl 49 smithing. Making arrows shouldn't require like 4 different skills. Release it in a way that there's something you get at every level, and don't make some really high max level that doesn't really do anything. If the max defense level is 99, there should be new armour to wear every 10 levels and at lvl 99.

Blarg. My thoughts are kinda random. I'm tired. But yeah, ultimately I think an RS3 would help. And a complete rework of skills, remove some skills, rework combat, add a downloadable client or a box or something. Emphasize PVP, since the PVP system (wilderness) seems to be the most unique thing about RS. (At least mechanically.)

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

my difinition of noob is i dont like u, either u are better then me or u are worst them me

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Even so, the gameplay hardly makes up for it. It's a grind-fest.

If they make RS3 it better be downloaded and not [bleep]ing in my browser. This fps crap is annoying.

ALSO. You ignited a lot of ideas for me. Keep your vid up so I can use it for reference on my next draft for Tip.It Times ;).

Probably half the reason I quit was FPS issues. I mean, I was getting bored, but if I had decent FPS I'd have actually tried things like dominion tower...
