January 26, 200620 yr http://www.starovertexas.com/family_security_and_protection_act.html *click at your own discretion, there is an EXTREMELY disturbing image of an aborted fetus late in the article* The basic gist of this is that there will be a 100% tax on VIOLENT (READ!) videogames, a 100% tax on violent games of any type.... Just some food for thought, does anyone think this will really get passed? Especially tacked onto a 50% tax for greasy foods and soda pop :P (There is also an abortion tax and other stuff in there) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
January 26, 200620 yr I would like a tax on all bibles and religious stuff also then please. Thanks. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. January 26, 200620 yr Author I would like a tax on all bibles and religious stuff also then please. Thanks. Being Texas, a tax on ammunition would make even more money ;) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
January 26, 200620 yr Hardly matters, most games [PC and Console] are cracked and pirated within days of release. I know the price. I pay it gladly.
January 27, 200620 yr Oh wow, I wasn't expecting to see that. That's really sad. Anyhow...taxes. Blah. But they do pay for things. And otherwise our country would be a dump. Or at least more of one. :P
January 27, 200620 yr Anyhow...taxes. Blah. But they do pay for things. And otherwise our country would be a dump. Or at least more of one. :P In the 1980's, the amount of taxes decreased while the amount of money generated by them increased. Provided that our government starts to spend our money wisely, and stop with the keynsian junk, we wouldn't have to pay so many taxes in order for our country not to be considered "a dump". Btw, that wasn't really directed toward you. Rather, your comment just sparked off my rant :|
January 27, 200620 yr There's some great Texan math going on on that site... RICK PERRY supports 3% tax increase annually 10yrs = 30% over 30 year mortgage = 90% !! :P Anyway, maybe the Dukes of Hazzard will come out of retirement, running shipments of video games along the backcountry routes in memory of their moonshinin' days... I don't really mind taxes...they're paying for the new stadium for the Indianapolis Colts. 8)
January 27, 200620 yr Like it matters. Stuff like this comes up all the time, it doesn't mean anything unless the House likes it. Gamertag: King Arizona
January 27, 200620 yr People pay taxes on Alcohol in Texas already, I would not really care if there was a small tax on violent games. I'm kind of for regulation on them, and it would discourage underage kids from buying them. January 27, 200620 yr more taxes? doesnt matter what kind of tax it is, more is bad. God forbid we have more money for healthcare, social security and education. Gamertag: King Arizona

January 27, 200620 yr more taxes? doesnt matter what kind of tax it is, more is bad. Like whoamygod, you have to pay 14% taxes. People in Europe do not complain about having to pay 49% taxes in some places. American's wish to have a choice in healthcare and schools, so we make them private institutions instead of tax-provided systems like other countries. Your taxes go to improving schools, providing medicine and welfare, building roads, etc. Paying 3 extra bucks to play a rated M game is fine by me. The proposed legislature would have paying twice as much :P I don't think many could pay more than $100 (other than steel battalion junkies) on a not so good game (ok, there are a few great ones, but seriously, a lot are stinkers) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
January 27, 200620 yr Smithie, I just read the entire thing. This will never happen...ever. I mean, 100% levies are impossible. There is no way a bill like that will ever be passed. Levies can only be passed by Texas law in a reforendum vote. People are not going to double the costs of PG and up movies, games, or toys. January 27, 200620 yr more taxes? doesnt matter what kind of tax it is, more is bad. God forbid we have more money for healthcare, social security and education. god forbid i get to keep what i earn and spend it how i please, instead of getting it stolen by the government and given to people who are more "needy" than i am. Like whoamygod, you have to pay 14% taxes. People in Europe do not complain about having to pay 49% taxes in some places. January 27, 200620 yr let me keep my 33% and spend it how i think i should. Meh. I was gonna post a really long reply to this but its so idiotic i just cant be bothered wasting my energy on someone who is so ignorant on real life. January 28, 200620 yr let me keep my 33% and spend it how i think i should. Meh. I was gonna post a really long reply to this but its so idiotic i just cant be bothered wasting my energy on someone who is so ignorant on real life. my real life situation right now: working 40 hours a week ar one job, getting $237.81, when it should be $320. working second job 10 hours a week, getting $100 or so check every two weeks. should be about $130, but alas, taxes. been working since about this time last year on some work at home stuff, that never got taxed, until now. i owe $750. im also a full time student at a local college. my dad just found out he hasnt had any taxes taken out for the city all year, he owes $10,000. so i think no, i am not ignorant on real life, at least not with taxes. i also see 75% of the students i go to college with go for free because they "cant afford" to pay for it, so my taxes do. i also see those same people drive their expensive cars, wear theit expensive clothes, and a few of them are even on unemployment. (wore my "work harder, millions of people on welfare depend on you" shirt the otherday, thats how i know. they didnt like it)

What the hell evil state do you live in? Texas is the anal Tax state and ours is barely 15%. Most of that money should be going to your Social Security fund...you will be getting that money back when you are 60. So, if you do get to keep your tax money, are you going to be donating to the poor and the needy? I doubt it. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. January 28, 200620 yr Most of that money should be going to your Social Security fund...you will be getting that money back when you are 60. Unfortunately, at this rate, social security will be bankrupt by time we are old enough to recieve it.
January 28, 200620 yr Your taxes go to improving schools, providing medicine and welfare, building roads, etc. Paying 3 extra bucks to play a rated M game is fine by me. If that happened in Australia i dont want my games to cost $102.99 $100 is too much for a game i will probably get sick of in 2 months.
January 28, 200620 yr Yea, I pretty much Agree. I only really purchase games I know I wont get sick of. And the occasional game is still over $100 a good 6 months after coming out (on both PC and console). Anyhow, I dunno much for the tax on games. It isn't exactly going to stop them getting into the hands of people who are below the recomended age.
