Kids at school using the word noob.

Featured Replies

Does anyone have so many kids at their school say noob as an insult in real life? At my school like 3 out of 5 people play either runescape or WoW or some other mmorpg and they all say noob or owned in everyday talk. Im not talking about nerds im talking about everyone. Is anyones school like mine?

I say owned and noob all the time. I usually only say it to people that I know though.

Nobody else says it and everybody thinks me and my friends are weird.

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

Just about noone.

Unfortunately, yes.

They also say LOL (pronounced "lawl"), pwned, stfu (pronounced "Stoofu"), etc.

Well, yes they do. Not really suprising since I'm doing an IT degree and the majority of my mates are IT people aswell :P

Actually that is surprising. No one said it at my uni and I did an IS/IT degree.

I am glad that I managed to finish school before most poeple found online gaming.

Let's make babies!

I hold a special sort of hatred for people that use computer lingo in real life. And when people go "lol" or "omg" in real life is really annoying and stupid. I've never heard anyone say "noob" in real life before, it's strictly a computer game thing and I think it should stay that way.

I don't say them because I have to explani it to my friends then :P

I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.

I find it incredibly disturbing the amount of people that say "noob" or other internet terms/acronyms like "LOL". Sadly enough I do know people that incorporate these expressions in real life ;-;

I say owned.

People do say noob though. There's not much discussion to it.

bestsiggycopy5bo.jpg

The only internet speak I ever use irl is 'owned,' and I don't think of it as an internet term.

As for my school, they're all preppies, so they may say 'o-m-g' or occaisionally 'l-o-l' as a joke, but if anyone actually started using words like 'noob' and 'pwned' regularly, they would be labeled as nerds and social outcasts and get run up the flagpole by angry jocks.

I actually think that saying internet slang in real life is pretty stupid. Quoting from the internet (like "dubbleyoo-tee-eff, mate" ) can be okay, but I think using that slang as a normal mode of communicating makes people sound stupid, pretentious, and kind of pathetic. It makes me think of nine year olds with braces getting in a serious spray fight on counterstrike. Pathetic.

A very small group of people say "noob" at my school. There's a guy I see everyday, and I'll call him a noob as he walks by in the hallway. No one else knows what "noob" means.

I never use any kind of internet lingo in real life conversations. :?

I call everyone in my family noobs.

Just say i walk by mum. "Hi noob whats up?"

Lol and my Dad called my uncle a noob once too!

So your computer isn't part of "real life"? You have an imaginary computer, on which you run imaginary software to talk to imaginary people?

And you find others disturbing?

WTF

OMG

Owned

and Noob

I uses all of these in real life. My friends had to get used to it at first, but now they accept it, and understand me. I dont care if it makes me look stupid, i like saying it, and my vocabulary flows together much better, and thats all i care about.

I've used K in place of 000 in a math exam once. I had to spend another 5 minutes trying to explain to my teacher what I'd done and what it all meant :-?
