Lionheart_0
(Atleast in Ontario), There is a new tax on ciggerets now. http://www.canada.com/globaltv/ontario/story.html?id=ff659d9c-fd77-40ec-95ed-a58a8800baac&k=13987 Now they have to pay more to indulge on this habit. but also when watching the news, if possible, the provincal gov't might make a plan to help smokers who want to quite, quite using the money from the taxes. *edit* and im also extreamly happy about the raise in the min. wage. Im no making 7.25 ^.^ Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!

logic-is-overrated
I don't see what's the big deal. Tax hikes happen all the time for all kinds of products. This is the way the world ends. timmay929
Lol. $1.25 a pack. People where I live would kill for that price. Its about $5 to $6 per pack here. In New York it's $9 I think. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

Actually it's $1.25 extra per pack, over what they cost already. Since I don't live in Canada nor do I have any interest in cigarette prices, as I don't smoke or plan to, I don't know how much they cost now. I read something that they plan on increasing the cost per pack in Canada 7% per year, so that's like $20 a pack by 2017. Some people will be spending $60 per day on cigarettes at that rate. Maybe some people will quit at that.

How2PK
Ah well, don't live in Canada, so. It's ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì4.60 ($5,54) for a pack of Chesterfields (25) here in Holland (atleast, last packages I had it was, probably went up since the new year). I always thought it was very common to raise tax on sigarettes etc. during new year, I don't see why Canada is so special. Runesmithie, a carton is 10 packs of sigarettes (Atleast, Marlborro and Lucky Strike packages are). :P Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! The thing im hoping for is that they do go ahead and use the money collected (estm. $3 mill) to make a public program to help stop smokers. We are already doing well here: cant smoke inside shops, malls, most bars, and in toronto i think they are making it illegal (i herad this about a year ago, srry if its not true) to smoke in houses or cars that have children, labling it child abuse. Making children unwillingly breath second hand smoke should be labled child abuse anyways... Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
