This has gone too far (avatars).

I logged in and I saw a girl dressed like this:

(click here AT YOUR DISCRETION: http://i.imgur.com/TQCZF.png)

As you can see, this is essentially cartoon-like but realistically looking full frontal nudity. Although costumes like this have been created in the past, they have not pushed it nearly this far. I've seen, heard, witnessed, and written about harassment and solicitation particularly from girls, and giving someone an option to dress like this the first time they log into a game like RuneScape (at what age?) without knowing what they are getting into seems like a genuinely bad idea.

Don't you think this idea of letting people walk around with avatars like this is pushing it a bit too far?

What's wrong?

it's possible to also appear topless as well as bottomless, saw this at the GE today - not pleasant.

Perhaps you could post on the RSOF and see what support you gain from the community and staff?

A small change to some clothing colour shades and skin tones would be enough to fix this.

Just saw the image. Sounds like Jagex has left themselves open to some rather annoyed feedback. At least there aren't any "parts" showing, eh?

Why is it acceptable for male characters (who have used this exploit for FAR longer than girl bodykits have) but not women? Why was it when people finally saw naked-appearing female body kits, people suddenly said "Oh no, now that's too much."

I don't get the bias here. You're only seeing so much of it because it was just recently popularized on /vg/ and reddit. It will die down just like the men-version of this glitch did and then people will forget about it.

Who cares.

I can understand where Arceus is coming from, this game is still rated 13+, and this bug should have been dealt with long ago, in other games with mods like this i.e. oblivion there is a clear 18+ rating before you view/download it. There is no such warning on runescape, and kids do still play.

Can I just say that I don't like the male version either? The female one is only an issue because most of the community seems intent on proving that it's less mature than a 12 year old.

It also wasn't possible to go that far before. Clothing wasn't as skintight and textures made it look like you had a skin-colored shirt. That's gone now.

Woah there, this is hardly X rated material its a skin tone with no depicted genitalia or anything.. Its basically a naked doll and exactly how many kids haven't seen a naked doll - I mean I don't like seeing this in my game cos I think it looks stupid but seriously does this offend anyone's sensibilities? Also, 13+ I didn't even realise Runescape was 13+ but come on guys you might be older now but we'd all seen far, far worse than this at 13, my bro gave me my first porn mag at about that age.

I think most people would agree that girls are more likely to be verbally harassed online than guys, even when well-clothed.

It's also quasi-acceptable for men to walk around without a shirt on. This is perhaps the source of any bias.

Nothing wrong with this. Besides if you shelter your kids then they won't ever learn. Stop trying to hide the truth from your kids. Instead why not tell them, but also teach them.

Yes it was for males. You could look completely naked before. Women, it only happened so strongly with the latest update.

It just kind of shocks me there wasn't such a moral outcry earlier about the Raw Onion color. Rather it took almost a year before it got any attention - and that's only because now people see "boobs".

Just kind of bullshit honestly.

I do agree it should be addressed but I don't want the color to be removed. The peach skin tone should not dictate what colors are available to all different variations of the body kits.

I know where the bias comes from. I think it's [bleep]ing stupid is all.

Different people have different opinions, you may be ok with it, some kids who's parents watch them play may less impressed.

Kim, the bias is that no one wishes to see bare crotch sections of either gender, as well as they don't wish to see bare tips of female breasts. And that even applies when there is nothing to actually see underneath. There does at least need to be a little common sense, even in avatar design for a fantasy MMORPG. ;)

The fact that you're implying I haven't been raised with a sense of decency because I'm upset at what started the complaint is not only a complete misinterpretation of my point, it's down right laughable. Please think before you post.

I can see this is going to lead to a matter of opinion debate, so to snip it in the bud, simply put jagex know how fickle there player base is already, letting a glitch/bug like this exist ingame is just open target practise on them, which they really could do with avoiding with all the negative PR around RWT/EoC/Botting (or lack of bot nuke for this matter) atm.

Ah, my mistake then. I've known that it was possible for a while, but I don't think it's ever been even remotely convincing.

It's still worth remembering the community. We have plenty of problems with solicitation, being able to turn your avatar into a naked woman isn't going to help that (Neither is walking around as a naked man, for that matter). It's also primarily male and very immature. Would rather not enable them.

For the record, there was a bit of an outcry over the color very early on, mostly from Pmods. You can see just how often they listen to us

Kim, I wasn't implying a lack of being raised with a sense of decency. Sorry for leaving that to be taken the wrong way. I only signed my post the way I did to provide an idea of where my post's slant comes from. #-o

It looks like a Barbie. Which a quick internet search just revealed to me the appropriate age range is 3+.. Perhaps you should not include smaller accessories at that age, but that is another argumentt.

Yes but a Barbie doesn't have a immature teenager spewing vulgar profanities whilst she is naked. The two together could cause offence to some players

Sorry buddy, but Barbie dolls aren't anatomically correct.
