Which English Dialect Do You Speak?

Featured Replies

Give this quiz a try and post your results below. I'm curious how accurate it is for OTers outside the US/Canada

http://www.gameswithwords.org/WhichEnglish/

My three closest dialects were Canadian English, US Standard English and Singaporean English, and it guessed my native tongue was English, Norwegian or Dutch.

Considering that I speak English as my second language and Norwegian as my third, not too surprising.

Estonian has too little of a sample size there, I'm fairly certain.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Yeah this test seems to kind if suck ass

Dialect:

I. Singaporean

II. Australian

III. Welsh (U.K.)

Fairly accurate, I use Australian/British vocabulary although one could consider my accent to be American. (I have an American father)

First Language:

I. Arabic

II. Chinese

III. Italian

Interesting correlations; fact that I grew up in the middle-east (predominately Arabic speaking) could conclude why the algorithm believed I am a native Arabic speaker. Also, ethnically my two parents are of Italian ancestry and are still very much attuned to Italian culture e.g. speaks the language at home.

Interesting - since its only broken the UK down into countries, instead of counties, Welsh would sort of make sense as the Norfolk region dialect is closer to Welsh dialect than it is to proper Queen's English - which I assume is what they took to be English (England). And again there are similarities between Welsh and Aussie dialect.

For native languages I have no idea how they landed anywhere.
