its obvious alot of these people posting some of these harsh and rude things dont know what depression is. Saying everyong has been there and knows the feeling and what not. That is being depressed and not depression. Depression is a mental illness that affects millions of people and if there not medicated it can totally take over any normal thought process. What would seem something silly and pointless no a normal person may seem huge to a person with depression. The kid didnt kill himself because of runescape. He killed himself because he bf turned on him and he felt as if he had no one to run to. And to all who say hes coward for not going to talk to his parents, did it ever cross your mind that there was something making him not? maybe being abused or something to that degree? maybe he in his mind felt his bf was the only person left and that person was gone. It makes me upset reading some of the posts on this topic seeing that people would rather spout there mouth without even letting it sink in. This child took his life and all you can do is so that he is worthless? no, is was clearly suffering a form of mental illness, which my guess is depression. For those here that think they've been down his path, then i suggest you look up depression. I think its very tragic this boy has taken his life and not a single person in his life payed attention enough to him to notice there was something wrong. That alone proves maybe things in his life werent great, im not justifying killing yourself because of that but i am saying he prob. suffered depression and people need to take that in mind before saying rude things they have.

A 14 year old boy out Bunnik ( Netherlands) commited last week suicide after his account of the popular online game runescape was hacked by his friend. Before he commited suicide he posted his farewell letter on the website of his game clan called Heroes Of the Future (HOF). The hacking of his account by his best friend was as we say in dutch the last drop of water that makes the bucket flood.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

"I do this (suicide commit, reason.) because I many problems have on school, home and on other places. I am usual ill person of the world and the men that on it live. The little support that I got, came from a set friends, but now has even my best friend (the one who him has gehackt, reason.) me disappointed. (...) I think not that someone me ever from the deep problems which I in stretch, can help", as wrote the 14-person whose birthday it is in its partings post on its clansite. Being hacked is this game means most of the time, that another player will steal all youre stuff that you have collected in al those months/years of playing.

As you might read in the speech too, he did not commit suicide because of Runescape. He felt betrayed, alone, without friends. Whilst he had enough but didn't realise it. Some people just have enough of life, quoting something from a post somewhere else:"Putting a fake smile on the rest of your life for others isn't always the right solution".

If you would have read the topic, you'd have seen that 'Maarten' has killed himself because his best rl friend betrayed him. The fact that he got hacked in RuneScape wasn't the problem, but the fact that his best real life friend did it (and maybe only rl friend) was a step too far for him...

I am highly offended by this. I am and have been depressed (not just upset, the actual sickness) and on multiple occasions, I have though about suicide. I've thought about it because my life wasn't going well; I was constantly being made fun of, I didn't have really any friends, and I basically hated myself. Needless to say, I didn't go through with it, and I have gotten help since then, and even though I am still depressed at times, overall I'm healthy. Basically what I'm trying to say is that before you go and judge someone and say they deserve no sympathy, try to find out what their life was like, and maybe death was a safe haven.
