Rule 15 added!

Featured Replies

You must not deliberately block or hide the adverts which appear above the free version of our game.

If you have advert blocking software please prevent it from blocking adverts on our website. The adverts above the free game are what enable us to keep it free after all!

Well its good for us members...

Ok... so everybody simply unblock the ads, then shrink the RS window right around the RS box... all better, not against the rules.

Here's an example of my screen, when I go on f2p it does the same thing, the add is off the screen. (I even stick a calaculator or notepad in that top right space, too :P My whole screen is used  )

Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.

Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.

And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.

[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.

Still i block them no matter what...

So we have to put up with adverts making the game run slow which they do!

I am a member but i use R.I.P on Mozilla FireFox to block ads like the one on the main page & world select so do you think they can ban a paying member from blocking ads when one of the things are subscription is paying for is a ad free version of the game?

no ads if you are a member. No need to worry there. Personally, if an ad is laggy, its probably a flash based add; just right click and select low detail. Reduces the lag significantly. but yea they should ANNOUNCE when new rules are added...

Well im F2P and I use Firefox...

I dont even remotely know how to turn off ad blocking on firefox, much less my anti spyware and anti virus...

My anti virus and spyware are both expired atm too.

I dont know how that would help protect us from spyware... :(

(assuming jagex's adverts are safe that is)

The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

doesn't your firewall block it, and if it is no way i'm ever going to do that.

I was going to point out that there are anti-virus/firewall/spyware programs that block most ads and jagex is always saying that we need these protection programs, now they want us to disable them! and if it is true that they are banning people for this it is a serious issue.

Indizle you are right i don't have to worry about the ads above the game window but there are 3 ads before i get to the game window that i block:

1: The main page

2: The Detail select page

3: The world select page

These don't affect the game play but for people like jak722 are in breech of rule 15 upon entering the site.

I'm pretty sure Jagex's adverts aren't safe. I clicked on one, and mysteriously had a massive trojan the next day. Hee hee. Massive trojan.

And not only that, but some of them are wholly innapropriate for the 5-8 year olds that frequent this site. Even I find some of them shameful :? . My brother actually sent them a complaint that one of the ads was completely innapropriate, and they ignored him.

1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb.

07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.

Prayer is good for herbs

Im a member so i dont have to deal with them and honestly have no clue how bad they are. I think that this rule is ok though because f2p has got more servers and they dont pay so jagex would like to make the money off them too. thats just my thoughts though

when u turn of your firewalls and other add blocking programs u allow adds to pop not in just runescape screen but all internet adds can freely come to your pc.

its about same as asking to leave your house door open so someone can leave unwanted box in your house. but while it's open don't u think someone else would use ooportunity to enter?

LMAO! They also half half-naked women on they ads, for ****'s sake!

They added it secretly so that the players won't know about it, but Jagex can say it's been there all the time, which is true, but they never properly informed us.

You must be 13+ to be allowed to play the game

Thieving is another skill that simply unlocks things for you

i dont mind the ads on f2p (which i never see thanks to a combination of firefox adblock/zone alarm pro). but to make it against the rules to block them is just stupid. and i honestly dont think there is a way for them to be able to tell. short of coming onto tip.it and reading this post.

this is very much the same issue. as far as i can tell, there is no way to allow ads from just one site. and theres no way im turning zone alarm off. who knows what my computer can catch just by opening firefox. this is a stupid rule, and combined with the fact that they havent announced it, makes it seem like another way for jagex to ban whoever they like whenever they like.

But that is not what they are asking you to do, right? They are asking you to set up your blocking software so it doenst block their ads, not asking you to turn blocking off completly. As I see it, the problem is that a lot of players dont know how to use the setting in their blocking software to allow certain places and blocking the rest.

Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)
