Coke and Pepsi: Is there really a difference in taste?

Ok. I love cola. Pepsi and Coke are my crack. I drink a lot of it.

Do you think there is a difference between them?

My class did an experiment. 22 Students couldn't taste the difference. I could.

The difference isnt really anything to me.

However I honestly think it's just in the head. You're just trying to figure it out so desperately that the tase is different.

Coke tastes like heaven, Pepsi tastes like the underside of a wet pig.

Dreaming of that face again

It's bright, and blue, and shimmering

Grinning wide

And comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes

I think Pepsi is sweeter than Coke, or so I've heard. Coke tastes 'harder'(if that makes any sense) to me than pepsi does, and pepsi tastes more syrupy to me.

I know what you're saying. During the "Pepsi Challenge" when that happened awhile back, I always knew it was Coke when it had more of that burning "umph" than the other one.

More carbination? Maybe "bite" is a good word since Barq's root beer always used that word.

Yeah, Coke has that bite and it makes your teeth gritty... it also leaves more of an aftertaste.

Yea I don't like that. I have a habit of scraping my teeth of one another. When i do that after drinkiing coke, my filling falls out

That's almost exactly correct. Also, what really turns me off from Coke is that Coke fizzes in your mouth a lot more than Pepsi, so it feels like I'm swallowning a big ball of frothy soda...a rather unpleasant feeling.

Pepsi for me.

Yes, I hate that feeling. Also your teeth feel revolting after a swallow of Coke. I prefer Pepsi.

That depends how you drink it. I will only drink coke very cold, and it retains the gas very well then. If you drink it when it's at room temperature it's awful...

I despise pepsi, and make a point of [bleep]ing when I get given it at pubs when I asked for coke. They usually don't even say "we've only got pepsi, is that okay?".

Pepsi is too sweet.

That is EXACTLY what I hate about coke. It makes my teeth feel sort of gritty just like Runesmithie said. That is the exact word I was thinking. I like pepsi more then coke but that's not saying much because I really don't like pepsi much either. Mountain Dew FTW 8)

You're completely right about it being cold, the colder the liquid, the more gas it can hold in...what's really scary is I could calculate just how many moles of CO2 are in there at a certain temperature under a given pressure...gotta love chemistry. However, Coke still fizzes a fair amount even when it is cold.

Pepsi can be sweet...but I've got an insatiable sweet tooth, so it's fine by me. :)

But I think Pepsi has mora carbonation, just by a little bit. I like Coke a bit better though, but I'll drink Pepsi.

Ahh, only if you don't pour it right. I am a seasoned coke drinker, and this is my method:

Use a pint glass, also the coke must be canned and very cold.

Open the can then pour the coke down the inside of the glass, with the glass tilted at 45 degrees. This minimizes foaming from splashing.

Add at least 4 ice cubes by PUTTING them in, put the tip of one in the coke then let it drop in slowly, this also prevents it foaming.

To me, there's nothing more refreshing.

too complicated for me  .

Grab a can >>> open it >>> drink.

I quite like the fizzy taste to tell the truth. I can easily tell the difference of coke / pepsi, but I like coke better.

Hey Google, you wanna try qutting them :P Yes, I understand the huge irony in this skittle maniac telling you to quit something you love, but seriously you should consider it. I haven't had a fizzy drink of any kind for all of 2006 so far and I feel great :) I don't get lethargic after the caffeine wears away, I get less headaches, as you'd expect my teether are in a better condition (I think I see a bit of white now behind all the red, purple, orange, green and yellow 'S's) and I generally feel a lot better without them in my system.

If anyone else feels the need to give something up for lent, why not try this?

Don't get me wrong, I like the fizz - just not the foam... If you know what I mean. I like the buzzing feeling, almost like your tongue is being pinched.

Ah ok. Yeah you only get the foam whenever you pour it in a glass :).

I don't "mind" the foam, but I never realy drink coke in a glass anyways.

The only reason I think it's good to drink it in a glass is so you can add ice to keep it colder for longer. Though if you leave it too long it will get watery... It's a fine balance!
