Myweponsg00d
I didnt want to make a new post about this, so I am just going to edit it in. All of the replies to this post up till page 4 are about the old topic. But, I figured out today, the "bug" with the Wyverns still works. However....I used the wrong prayer. You can use full Verac set just fine against Wyverns, but you need to use MELEE prayer. I realised my mistake in school today, and went to try it out. It still works. Protect from MELEE protects from their ice attack, regardless if you are wearing an elemental shield or not. I would upload a video, but I'm still at school. So, if you dont believe me, go down there wearing nothing and see for yourself. Protect from melee with stop the devastation of their breath. I just used the wrong prayer :( P.S. You still need 72 slayer for this to work, btw. Need assistance in any of these skills? PM me in game, my private chat is always ON

stanford
Okay...another terrible stoke of luck for Mr. Myweponsgood. So, I got bored just now and decided "Hey, no one wears those granite legs anymore...I wanna go get me a pair." So, I take out my full Verac set and venture down to the cave. Typically, the only attacks they used were ranged and melee. I would pray against range and then the Verac would protect decently from the melee. Well, to my surprise, they changed the ranged classified attack to magic. I get about halfway through killing one, then get hit for a 38 and I'm like  Needless to say, I was frozen. Not long after this, I met my demise. I think this is STUPID. Why wouldn't they say that the Wyverns were updated? This is even more of a reason for people to not kill them. I'm pretty sure it was always a magic based long-range attack. In other news, there's another bug with range. If you click "attack" on a player and you are out of range to shoot at them...rather than run up close enough to fire, you just stand there. Barihawk
They were intended from the beginning to only be fought with an elemental shield. So sorry, Jagex usually does not list bug fixes in updates. Sy_Accursed
You can rant and rave all you want about not needing the shiled. That is your problem. Slayer monsters require specific slayer items to stop theier effects. There is no way round it You can't escape being diseased by the spdiers without the gloves You can't escape being hit hard by killerwatts without the boots# You can't avoid losing stats from the screams/smell of banshees and specters Yes maybe when you first went to them you could get round not using the shield, but that would of been a bug so Jagex would fix it Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

Myweponsg00d
OKAY, now before another one of you MORONS post, YOU DID NOT NEED AN ELEMENTAL SHIELD THE FIRST WEEK THAT THESE WERE OUT! The dangerous breath that was used was considered to be ranged attack, just like a dragon's breath is considered magic. All you used to need was ranged prayer. If you don't believe me, ask Oergg. I went there, in full Verac, with him and we both used this same technique, taking very little damaage. And FYI you can fight dragons just fine without a fire breath shield. All you need is magic prayer and anti fire pot. Believe me, I've dharoked them enough. What I am angry about is all these stupid hidden "bug fixes" that Jagex doesn't tell us about and gets us killed. I am sure a few of you remember my dharok death at bloodvelds due to a wondering Aberrant Specter... Need assistance in any of these skills? Barihawk
Since the day the Wyverns came to us, a requirement for thier fighting has always been an elemental shield. Its in the manual, the ingame manual, every guide written on the monster, and the slayer masters themselves say to wear a shield. So fighting them without a shield is a bug. A nasty bug. Telling us you were with Oergg does not make us think any more of you. Hiding behind him is pointless, because he was also abusing a bug. The reason Jagex does not note bug fixes in the updates section is because it would be mundane. Every morning, some noob would blast into the TIF forums and shout: "Bugfix 3/07/06: fixed errors in game code for optimum performance. First post!" If you really wanted to watch bugfixes, go to the report a bug section. There is a full list of bugs there with thier status of pending or fixed. So really, Jagex does inform us of bugfixes, you are just too lazy to check for yourself. So if we are morons, what does that make you? Someone who is lazy, arrogant, and thinks they are invincible because "famous" players do it. Myweponsg00d
I mentioned Oergg because he is my friend, and he is the only person I went with. The fact that you find him "famous" is irrelevant. So, the game also says that you need an anti-fire shield to fight dragons. However, if you use protect from magic and anti-fire pots, you do not need the shield, is THIS bug abuse? The elemental shield is NOT listed in the slayer equipment page. Therefore, it is not the same as the other "required" equipments. You did not NEED an elemental shield to fight Wyverns, just like you do not NEED a fire shield to fight dragons. The shield is not in the official slayer equipment guide (click on the slayer skill), so it should not work the same way. I would not think of this as a bug, since there is the dragon thing. If the Wyvern happens to not use its ice attack on you, you don't even need the shield. It is not comparable to other slayer equipment. Need assistance in any of these skills? Barihawk
I really don't see anti-icebreath potions, and dragons are not slayer monsters. So comparing Dragons to slayer monsters is irrelevant. Skeletal Wyvern 72 Elemental Shield From the slayer monster table in the runescape manual. Fields are name, slayer level, and equipment required. You were looking under the table of slayer equipment available for sale from Masters, the elemental shield is not a purely slayer monster item. Myweponsg00d
It still boils my broccoli to know that they didn't announce it. I can understand not announcing every single thing, like a graphical bug fix. But for things that are life threatening, don't you think they should announce them? I did not even consider this to be a bug, so why would I look for it on the bug fix screen? Oh...and if this WAS a bug...DONT THEY TEST THINGS?! I mean ffs, I was only there about 30 minutes before I realized how to do this technique. If this was indeed considered a bug, it should've been handled BEFORE release. Maybe the msisedd adding a code to the shield They r humans, maybe they didn;t test without shield because they didn't think of it as slayer monsters require the set item so most should go with the shield as the manuel lists Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
