i painfully acquisitioned funds to acquire the famed abyssal whip. upon possesion of the the aforementioned whip i was greatly dissapointed with its performance re: my attributtal bonusii. i was forced to compare the whip to my favoured mode operandi, the dragon scimitar. i find this dilemma brings me to my next point; why is it that it took me 200 man hours to get to lvl 68 smithing (inc. mining) while it took me 40 man hours to get a lvl of 72 fletching(inc. woodcutting)?? does smithing=Whip or Fletching=d scimmy? you tell me

im not sure how to compare a weapon to a the time used to level a skill, but the whip is so expensive because you have to have 85 slayer to kill the monsters that drop it, and a year ago they used to cost 10mil, now they are more reasonably priced and you see them alot. a year ago, its was "WOw you have a whip!" all that aside, I acually like the whip alot, it seemed to have good speed and it would hit more frequently than the skimmy, at least it seemed that way to me. The thing i didnt like is when you put it on strength it raises all 3 attack skills, which is nice in a way, but id rather have all the xp in one spot. But as far as the stats are concerned, you'll notice your bonus to strength and slash are higher than with a skimmy, so to me I cant see how it could possibly be worse.

I concur.

I know whips can suffer from "rubber sausage" syndrome, I see many people using them ineffectively at castle wars. Against other players maybe not so good, but against npcs its great. But I don't see how comparing it to a skill proves anything, apart from the time it takes to get.

I'd go for that famous whip, of course, my mate gave me ten when he left, but i sold the rest for full dragon :D
