Friends in strange places?

Featured Replies

Well these 'friends' that i speak of are herblore and farming, two strange skills that arent used too often. i saw someone post that he/she got a phat from farming, and i thought that was crazy (a phat by like 3 months ago price). what do you think about farming + herblore's potential as high level skills. (growing your own and making your pots)

Hmm...well it would save money, but in the long run I think buying the herbs for herbalore would be better money, since farming isslow for making pots consistenly. I grow ranaar and once tried to sell by making pots, but I never had more than 100+ a day.

they might help making money, but are the more boring skills.... people will stick to smithing amd fletching probably

Well people can make alot of money with skills. Smithing and fletching are the best in popularity. Fletching and Smithing can all be done in your own part, with high alching of course. With any other skill, you must sell them to other people, which takes time, and finding the right people to buy them. So in other words, people are Lart. (Lart = Lazy/Smart)

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

Technically you'd only need like 85 farming and 83 herblore to get this 1B which you speak of but don't elaborate on how to do. :?

Fletching, smithing and Farming are boring. Herblore however is not if you have the patience to get 55 which alot of people don't seem to have. Don't bag a skill you suck at pl0x?

I really like farming (and I'm just growing onions+cabbage... ) but I hate herblore. I just want 38 fo rprayer pots and then I'll never train it again (well probably till I meet the legends quest req).

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

increased yields, much higher sucess rate id assume

if you get the right levels in them i think they are great skills, it depends if you buy your seeds or not for you to make profit you have to harvest more herbs than you paid for the seed, herblore can be good money say if you get upto super str's i think they go for 4.5-5k each and you buy kwuarm seeds for 10k ea you will probably get atleast 4 herbs from them, and the herbs alone are 4k each? thats 2k saving on the herbs and making your own limpwurts and ive only ever got 3 per seed so its not too bad i guess

theres 2 things bout the skills

farming-takes ages!!!! really boring and slow!!! however u can do stuff at the same time.

herblore-costs lots to get too a decent enuf lvl whereby u can start making large profits and even then it aint that good. take p pots for example. ranarrs are 6k each snape grass is 500e wf vials are 200 each that mean 6.7k and p pots only go for 6.5k!

Sig by me....

Combining farming, flethcing and herbalores a winning combanation. Plant all you can in all the patches, pay the farmer to look after them, go back round and get your produce. And while you wait alch some bows.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I tend to be kind of a raw-material purist and find that herblore is difficult to build unless I was to invest coin for the purchase of herbs and secondaries. I know players whose primary income has been from herblore, even after investing in the materials.

As for farming, it has been a huge help for my herblore. I have not yet purchased any seeds, relying on slayer assignments to send me to monsters that drop good seeds.

In short, investing coin in the seeds, herbs and seconds would easily build these skills much faster. Without coin investment they are rather slow-going.

In a way ive made about 300m from farming.

As when i started Farming my herblore was about 40.. after a while i had 75 farming and 75 herblore plus around 10k prayer pots.

Which i used at Barrows and got so many drops including over 12 g spears.. so farming made me rich :P

Well, if u buy herb seeds, farm them get lots of herbs, sell for more. Buy seeds for less, sell herbs for more, you could make tonz of money

That's easily possible.

Let's say you have 50 farming and 500k cash in addition to standard armor and stuff... full rune, d long, the likes.

Buy nature ammy... 400k left

Buy 15 ranarr seeds... 100k left

Collect 15 jangerberries and compost them. While they're composting, go kill Chaos druids for herbs.

Hour later, collect compost... start planting your herbs and keep killing chaos druids.

Assuming you grow 3 herbs a day, 5 days later, you have on average 90 ranarrs. Assuming you've been killing chaos druids the whole way, you should also have around 1k-3k herbs... lets say 2k.

2k herbs = 2.4mil

90 ranarrs = 630k

3130k after 5 days of work from any mid level with just enough farming to farm ranarrs. After taking out the expense, almost 3mil profit for 5 days while training farming + combat.

So far, 53 farming and 55 herblore have only costed me money.

Assuming you grow 3 herbs a day, 5 days later, you have on average 90 ranarrs.

90 in 5 days? There are 4 patches, and with super compost you get an average of 6. Thats 24 a harvest, and then you do that at 3 times a day, about 65-75, counting plant deaths and such. Thats a day, and 75 ranaar is 525k at 7k each. Minus 12 seeds at 15k each, thats 345k. Now if you expand that to 100 ranaar, which I get about every one and a half days to two, thats 700k for 100, and lets sat 16 seeds about, thats 240k. It ends up to be 460k profit for 100 ranaar. Now, personally, I think thats not bad for about 5 min. of work every 75 minutes.

after doing slayer for a while (got to 55 so i could do barrows easily) i had about 40 rannar seeds and a few pray pots aswell, so i planted all my ranar seeds in the 4 patches in super compost and did a few barrow runs and hoped that they wouldnt die, out of those 40 or so seeds i got from 33 to 43 farming in about a day (planted limp seeds at the same time and a few sweetcorn) and got from 38 herblore to about 45 in the same day (i collected all the snapes my self) but i dont sell most things that i make, i use them so im going to do barrows untill this batch of p pots runs out and then theive/buy/kill for some more seeds so that i can raise my herblore and farming a bit more and hopefully get some barrows items (none yet  )

Candymann16.png

The only halfway decent money that I can see farming and herblore being used to make money would be by making super strong weapon poisons to sell...and that wouldn't be that great money even if you got the nightshades from the ogre city's cave. Since super poisons are what 10K each and you'd probably be able to get no more than 76 a day so that's 760K a day...sure you could also farm your own herbs, but that's pretty slow in the making too...so farming isn't quite a "fast money maker" but could be used for making money for those crazy enough to be spending about 2-3 hours for 760K.
