mozzarie Posted April 30, 2006 Share Posted April 30, 2006 bf/gf.. something 2 ppl share.. but now it has been polluted by people who want free stuff. and pretending to say i love you. and then other ppl who say looking for fat gf will love you forever. the internet is becoming fast pick for dating and its moving into the gaming system being used as a cheap way to scam. personally i am against the internet thing.. but id like to hear some of the players who are for/against this topic and why. I would spend hours searching rooms, looking for an online "girlfriend". Who ended up being someone I never saw that I talked to and shared hollow intimate words with. I see it in Runescape and see only and exscuse to have someone handing you money or items. It's pathetic. limpxbizkid Posted April 30, 2006 Share Posted April 30, 2006 im against the whole online bf/gf thing altogether. but if people wanna do it, there should be no one standing in their way. im sick of all these people who prey on some lonely person promising to be their bf/gf only to ask for items the second they say yes. so how do we resolve this problem? making a report criteria for someone who asks/offers to be another persons bf/gl? it wouldnt work. although this the only way jagex manage to solve behavioural problems in runescape even in this case i think theyd say no to such a thing. i think its just something we have to accept. some people are crazy. a proportion of these crazy people have no morals. an even smaller proportion of these crazy people with no morals will resort to this kind of thing. and aside from abusing these people (you see, abuse is like cooking with spices. too much and youve ruined a meal, but just the right amount...) i cant see a possible solution to this without changing the game to much. finally a few questions: 1. whats the mean age of runescape players? 2. is this level of immaturity a result of this? But on the inetrnet, its a different thing. People just go up to random people and go 'If you be my GF I'll give you 100k' The person being asked out only wants to do it for 100k. The person asking is just doing it to impress somebody. I'd also like to remind people when they ask people to be BF/GF on the internet, not just Runescape but chat rooms too, that for all you know you might be flirting with an old women who doesn't even remember where she lives. But, if people want to do it, go ahead. But ask yourself some questions. Do I really have feelings for this person? Do I even know this person? Does this person even know me? If you want to have a GF/BF on the internet, I advise it is somebody you know. A remember the most important rule of the internet: Never go meet with naybody youre talking to. They will brutally abuse you and ***** you up. They;ll take you to the forest and rumple in the jungle. Hope that cleared stuff up. Personally, I don't care whether or not people in this game want gfs/bfs.. some people even get married, and in extreme cases, they get married in real life (holy crap.. anyone remember that one?) But yeah, its no different than walking up to a random person saying can i have a free 100k because i love you? Its just a lot more elaborate.. If you have a friend, and they ask you to have/borrow 100k, would you consider that scamming? Same deal. So I hardly consider the whole relationship thing scamming. But there actually are people who are together in real life. I've met a couple while cutting maples in Seers once. They called each other "Hun" and "Sweetie" and crap. I was thinking "Stupid noobs," so when I asked them why did they have a gf/bf in RS, they said that they knew each other irl and liked to play the game together. (Then the guy started gloating to some lvl 45 about him starting at RSC and his combat lvl :roll: ) But just randomly coming up to someone and ask tem out, it's pain stupid. I once did a Undercover story of how many people would ask a girl out. The funniest thing eever, I got asked out by guys 24/7. THey went into shock when I told them I was a guy :lol: P.S. However, if something does not affect me than I see no need to complain about it or mock it. All too often I see a couple in Runescape being made fun of by other members of the community just because they say they have intimate feelings for each other. Why does this has to happen? Why do people feel the need to go on a power trip everytime they see something they do not agree with? Now I have personally have met two couples that genuinely 'love' each other and are all good friends of mine. Each of the couples have met each other in real life on multiple accations (yes they are older than 18 and no I do not approve of minors doing this). I can obviously see how most people can knock off each online couple as hollow do to alot of the mishaps that happen in Runescape (mostly item scamming), but through my own experiences I have found that they are all not all like that. I hate it when people just go with the flow and let their brains turn to mush. Think for yourselves and do not always go with the stereotypical views that often the easy way out. Thats not what I meant. Everyone seems to be throwing way out of proporation and that all online couples are fakes and hollow. The point I was trying to make was that they are not all bad. If you do think that real life gf/bf can't have relationships in the game, why not make it illegal to have relationships in real life? Runescape is a role playing game, and in real life, you play the role of yourself. So, i think it is fine if they know each other. But not if they come at you from nowhere. How would you feel if you were in the supermarket and then this random person comes up to you and asks you out? Would you say yes? Dont think so!
