Do you guys remember when Runite was purple?

They were still deciding what colour would Runite be.

 

 

 

I only joined about November 2001 and was still a newbie for much, so I can't tell if any major happened before then. :(

Andrew did have a purple r2h If I can find the disk with all of my old rs pictures on it I have a pic of him showing it to someone in the trade screen. He was in edgeville which was then known as ghost town.

 

I also have a pic of the huge crowds at Oziach the day the dragon quest came out. Paul is in it he helped me and a few others bypass Oziach by trading us the maze key.

 

@ Rune_Thug Rune was not in existance except by mods until they released in the Champs guild. Bluerose didn't get 85 smithing until August 2001 Rune was released in July and even if she was there was no such thing as a rune bar. Or the wilderness with the rune rocks in it for that matter.

Yeah I remember when there were like 4 servers. Ive been playing seince spring 2001 but im only lvl 100 XD. But then again rs isnt a game I play every day I just make progress here and there only on combat though... But back then I believe the best weapon was the addy long. I never remember seeing the purple rune. The mods must have been "beta testing" it. I went into thurgo's (or whatever his name was)black hole too.

Then I stand corrected, my memory does fail me at times. She was the one who brought rune sqs/kites/battles and then finally r2hs into the game. Couldn't remember if rune was already available in stores or not.

Some people... First off, no player ever had a purple rune item. They changed rune to the cyan color before the first player owned rune items were around. And that was waaaay before r2h's came around. The only way you would have seen a purple r2h was on a mod, but even then you couldn't tell what kind of a sword it was. On a second note, no, I don't remeber it. I didn't play that long ago, and im not gonna try to act it either.

werd the only reason you think you saw purple rune was because of the pic that was passed around of purple r2h in trade. Was never worn by a mod or anything.

werd yes it was i have been playing since 1 server and mod ian used to have a purp sword and that was going to be the color of rune until they did a vote and changed it to cyan.

I joined in late '01 and was a newb ever since. Missed most things up until the release of RS2 because I didn't take it too seriously until then. Now I wish I had taken it alot more seriously and would've stacked up on partyhats and crackers 8-) Oh, well I missed out a bit I guess.

Well, I joined Runescape when Runite was already out, but I've seen several messages and pictures of speculations that runite was supposed to come out as purple!

i havent actually see the mod wielding the purple r2h, but i remember seeing fake pictures of people "smithing" purple runite bars when rune was announced at here... it was quite a bit of joke when rune was revealed to be bright green...

yeah there was atleast one purple rune 2 hander. I've also seen several pictures of the old rune. I also remember how gems looked on rsc before they were changed. I was there the day they dropped p hats, and pulled a few crackers myself with a friend. I also remember whne characters were selected on types (ranger, miner, fisher, warriow, and mage (i think there was another one)). I know this because my character was a miner.

 

 

 

You could select from warrior, ranger, adventurer or mage if i remember right.

 

Yes, i remember the "purple rune" but no player ever had it. Also when rune plates were coming, i remember the speculations that the price would be 400k, a really big amount of cash during those times. My rl friend, lummox, gathered that 400k and was "disappointed" when they were only 68k.

there are too many fake "veterans" around here. i joined in january of '01 when the game first began ok, so take my word for it.

 

 

 

2hs never had a different look than a long sword in classic other than the fact no one could have a shield while equipped with one, this most people should know. however there was a picture going around way back when of a trade window with a purple two handed sword, it was either Paul or Andrew who was doing the trade. i think the picture was taken in the Ghost Town (edgeville for all you newer players) mines.
