chaosgone
Both of my wrists are very sore. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not very surprised this happens, since I have been working with computers for years. (I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m a computer programmer by day, and play Runescape by night.) So, I went to the doctor, and he gives me a wrist brace to wear on my right wrist, and an anti-inflammatory drug to take for two weeks. If it doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t get better, he will run some tests. In the meanwhile, I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not doing to play Runescape that much. :( I like the game, but most everything in the game requires using the mouse, and I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t want to do a lot of clicking. I tried fighting zombies in the wild, since they would attack me, but I kept getting pked. :wall: I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m trying to think of other activities that don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t require a lot of clicking. Maybe fishing? What a drag it is getting old̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ http://www.chaosgone.blogspot.com
apinagez
Man, your hands hurt and you'll keep playing Rs? Take a break for some days, when you feel better and your wrist is fully usable again, come back. ^The most disturbing signature on Tip.it^Last.fm|HELLY KAYLA!|Oh the mehagurtz!|#Siencemakers"they care less about their spelling mistakes then I." - Lionheart"apinagez... let me
knives669
:( Carpral tunnel? I have it and I'm 16. Try fishing or woodcutting. Woodcutting was my favorite skill. ^_^ It doesn't really require a whole lot of clicking, and you make moola from it. :D

Necromagus
Well, as a computer programmer you're probably aready well informed on using equipment designed with ergonomics in mind, so I guess there's not much room for it there. I'd just follow my doctor's recommendations though, better lay off RS for a few weeks than having to lay off it for the rest of your life... Omnislash42
You should proooooooobably take a break. I knew this kid who was in the top 100 players in the world in starcraft who played so obsessively that his wrists sent him to the ER several times. He eventually was forced to just retire. So definitely tone it down a few notches for a bit.

chaosgone
I do use a wrist pad for the keyboard, and the mouse. Since both wrists hurt, I'll probably just stop using the Internet much, including Runescape, until my wrists get better. http://www.chaosgone.blogspot.com

knives669
Symptoms for Carpral Tunnel are extreme pain and tightness in the wrist when you move the wrist itself, or the fingers. The pain can extend as far as the elbow sometimes.
Goldwolflord
Yeh, not really much you can do for your wrist... Ergonomics... A gel wrist rest, well shaped mouse, correct distance away... I have a keyboard tray from a computer table (the ones that slide out) on my lap, with keyboard, mouse and full length gel pad, not the best, but I don't get any aches or pains. knives669
Gold's post reminded me of something. There are some GREAT mousepads out there that are like a godsend for people with Carpral Tunnel. I'm talking about the mousepads with the gel like pillow on the wrist part. Try one of those. So comfy...

Not that bad, and when it does I just take a break. But yea, they are better than normal mouse pads. The best is still to tkae a break when you feel an upcomming pain. gonpost
YOU my dear friend need to take a look at this. http://www.evoluent.com/vmouse2.html That's an excellent start. It's not great for gaming...but for rs/programming, I'm sure it'd be just fine. It'll take quite a bit of strain off your wrists. If you think that it's some sort of gimic, try a little test. When your wrist hurts, turn it sideways like you're going to shake hands. Do you notice that your wrist feels quite a bit better? Same principle. Also...just taking a 5 minute break every hour does wonders...seriously....I've tried it before and it actually helps. Runescape Name: "unbug07"Expand your mind. gonpost
That doesn't look extremely comfortable for the outside of the hand... (when you hold your hand flat - the outside bit) Tis why you get a lovely gel mousepad. :) EDIT: And also, just imagine now...if we all used those, one would imagine that using the mouses that we currently use, it'd be very uncomfortable to rest your hand on the ball of your hand all the time. All that weight on such a small part of your hand would make sense that it'd be uncomfortable after a while. With the other mouse, the weight is spread out along the entire side of a hand at least...
