What came first? the Chicken or the egg

Featured Replies

I would say the egg say first because it would of had to evolve from something that came before it to make the egg.

Post what you think came first.

air

The process of an egg at the first step to a new creature came far before chickens came along (dinosaurs). So its egg.

I'd go with the chicken as well. Chicken make eggs after all.

How does the rooster fit in the picture? :-k

Gotta go with egg, because where did the chicken come from originally.. an egg inside it's mother.. Uh oh! Mother was a chicken too.. I'm real confused now :wall:

I don't know what it is, but something keeps telling me you "own"?

"When you're happy it's like you're a bird; you can fly. The only trouble is, you need other birds to fly with"

The egg came first. The creature that layed the egg was... a velocoraptor! Duh.

I skill. If you skill you should join.

Im sayin the egg because there is no way the chicken could be there without being born. And since they are born in eggs, Then the egg would have had to of been there first.

On the other hand, There is no way (in my mind) that the egg could have got there without a chicken laying it so in this case it would be the chicken.

But, the chicken could have evolved from another species of animal which could have laid the egg, and over thousands, maybe millions of years, the 'chicken' has developed into a chicken as we know it. Obviously not the same chicken btw

I would say that -- leaving the eggs of other animals our of this -- it was still the egg. I would have thought any one particular animal is going to be the same animal all its life -- it's not going to evolve when it turns 20, or anything like that. In that case, a chicken would need to begin life as a chicken -- and chickens start life as eggs... so... Also, suppose it's s shades-of-grey issue: chickens became chickens slowly, and the things in between are half-chicken-half-whatever. In that case, it's still the egg, because those creatures had eggs.

the things that concieved the first egg!!! yay i win...no jk

This is a stupid discussion.

Spot which statement is false:

It's not a chicken if it didn't come from an egg.

It's not an egg if it didn't come from a chicken.

None is a valid awnser? I'd say that a Huge Dino made an egg, and from this egg a dwarf Dino was born, who made an egg, and another dwarf Dino, but mutant was born, and we keep going "dwarfing" untill we reach the chicken. By this I'd say the animal came first, but if it was an egg-born animal wo made it!? Ahhhhh, I hope it wasnt an egg-born the first Dino! Just a bit confusing.

=; Pizzas came first. \'

Mother Couldn't have been a chicken because then the chicken would have come first. Something slowly evolved into a chicken.

Reptiles and dinosaurs (the origin for all modern birds) layed eggs for there offsrping.. this just is showing that the birds continue today with that trait..

The chicken. If you're a Christian, then God put the chicken on earth. It then laid the egg. There you go. If you don't believe in God...well, I don't know what to say to you.

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
