I support the rule against advertising yourself as a personal accessory, but it would be hard to enforce-and if you look back in the behind the scenes, I do believe you might find something about a couple getting married who met over runescape.

 

 

 

Therefore, I think that the rule would be impossibly hard to enforce unless it was either "No online dating through runescape", which I wouldn't support merely because I have a relationship over the internet with someone I care about (Yes, I have met her in person, we went to the same camp), although not over runescape, and I'm sure that as runescape is mmo, it would be limiting to prevent people who both play from enjoying their company as a couple.

 

 

 

Another possibility is a rule against "asking for a partner via public chat that isn't aimed at a single individual", while including a provision for harrassment after the individual said no.

I'd like to, for one, say that just because they want to date through runescape does NOT nessicarily make them ugly/pedophiles, there are quite a few good looking people who're incessantly shy. I was one of those (I'm not anymore, but not through my own doing-I have a number of people to thank for that), I still am not one of the people who boasts about my achievements loudly and without rest, even though I could.

 

 

 

If people are shy, it's hardly ever their fault. I was shy because I had been bullied (although I haven't ever gone out on runescape), and felt more at home where I was a generic-people based their ideas around me on how much work I had done, and how I spoke (wrote :P).

 

 

 

I'm not saying they arn't all beautiful people or who they claim to be, but I am saying that some of them could fit in that group. Probubly not all however.

 

 

 

(Just to note, I don't like the steriotyping of an entire group of people based on their actions, esspecially if I don't know them. I've made that mistake myself.)

I'd definately have to agree, anyone who tries to establish a loving relationship through a game is just plain sad. Indefinately signed.

I must agree, this is one of the most annoying things in runescape, Although it's sorta fun to watch people actually hook up from a "Looking for rich Bf" message, because they get what they deserve for giving them anything expensive.

I really hope they establish this rule, or at least to a lesser degree. Apart from obviously saving hundreds of players a load of annoyance, the people who would be doing this might wake up a little and get some real social interaction. Runescape is a great place to meet people as friends, but romance is a little too out there for the game.

If someone wants to have an online girlfriend/boyfriend, they should jsut go on (Insert online dating service here). The only time it really should be acceptable is when you know the person really well and aren't just wanting to become their Boyfriend/Girlfriend because they will give you items. Maybe if that person really is your spouse or boy/girlfriend irl it is acceptable, but you may have no way of proving it, unless you want to mail Jagex a copy of your marriage certificate.

alright, i can understand your decision to do make this and it makes perfect sense but i have these points to add. I have experienced situations where a guy pretends to be a girl and tries to get money off me by saying i'm "hot" and asking to be my gf....even though its just pixels...Runescape is not a dating game its just mmorpg. Still, a large chunk of what happens remains people choose whether they want to do this, ignore list has a purpose after all, and it leads to some funny things :) People should not be allowed to make that kind of talk, but when they ask for a hunky bf or hot gf...its just like nooby beggars, just ignore em.
