Unfortunately, I don't have the $200.00 plus to buy Mathematica 8.0, and I am too lazy to right a sigma function in C++... Soultar, if you could release some code for that function, I think I could write a program for it for tip.it...

EDIT: Is "floor" the same as calculating the minima of a curve? Sorry, I'm pretty good at math but not with terminology ;-)

Floor is the same as INT, just means round down. I'll write up something in javascript now. Gimme a minute.

Unfortunately the equation has been known for quite some time and tip.it already has the formula and a script to go a long with it.

Though that is some nice math work. And although I'm stuck here with the TI-83+ I've used the TI-84 and am considering getting one soon.

NO! You beat me to it! Bah humbug! Anyone could have gotten the formula if they just looked at the source code of any one of the experience calculators... or did a search for Experience Formula.

lol dude you messed up on calculations the answer is not correct.

you need to replace the last 3 and find the quartic doozer number of the 7th digit to the right from the left. The you must find the square of all the uneven levels and divide it by zero.

Also, just had a thought:

What if I take Duke Freedom's research on the prices of rares and develop a regression algorithm for the prices of rares (i.e. inflation) THAT would be a pretty big acheivement.

i'm sorry but you could only guess this. no equation can properly state the next price of an item, as in some realy life things. anything can happen, as in jagex taking away rares, some one quitting that is known to have thousands of rares, some one hording rares, or enough merchants banning together to make all rares go up in price. see? it wouldn't work right. but if you want to make an estimational equation, then go ahead. and it's would be pretty big, even then

Well, don't know if anyone stated this yet, but wrong. This is a close approximation, but it is not the actual formula.

And the 84 sucks! ;) TI-89 Platinum all the way. Symbolic manipulation rocks.

The Formula:

X is level and Y is exp needed

Y = 1.1240002159979X^4 - 169.81098284753X^3 + 8443.2450488426X^2 - 146185.46656323X + 586908.5427719

That quartic is never going to give you accurate data unless Jagex uses a quartic to determine XP/level. Its not going to be useful around the ends of the data (especially predicting levels >99). A better approximation would be a Lagrange Polynomial but you would probably need to use Matlab or some other mathematical program to solve it. But this is all silly when we know the exact formula.

i had a pretty acurate equation for santas, all i remmebr is that they should be 100m each by next year (according to the graph of course, don't listen to me though)

Ok , here's the table:

For my typing convenience, I will list exp values for every 5 levels over 100.

Level: Exp needed: Rough Value

105: 18369700: 18.3m

110: 25216225: 25.2m

115: 33764557: 33.7m

120: 44266687: 44.2m

125: 56991468: 57m

130: 72224611: 72.2m

135: 90268688: 90.2m

140: 111443132: 111.4m --------------------------> OVER 100M EXP

145: 136084233: 136m

150: 164545144:164.5m

I'm about 99% certain that the EXP requirements should double every 7 levels. That's the trend in the current available levels anyways...

I'm so glad someone posted the YEARS OLD formula.

It's just sad when a high school student gets their hands on a graphing calculator and thinks that they actually know what they are doing.

As far as predicting rares go that is something that can only be guessed and most likely would be guessed wrong.

I will list just a few impossible to know variables that would need to be involved:

change in new players

change in old players leaving

decreases in overall rares

introduction of money removing skills

introduction of money adding skills

introduction of very rare highly sought after items

people purposely influencing prices

and so on and so . . .

Ok, I consider myself to be a math nut, but whoever could think of a Lagrange Polynomial certainly takes the prize from me. ;-) Could you perhaps enlighten me as to what exactly a Lagrange Polynomial is? I'll do a quick google to get some background info. Thanks in advanced...

Don't care if this was posted before:

(Around level 120 you hit 100M experience. 200M experience is 8M shy of levle 127, which means 126 is the current experience cap.)

I'd like to put a caveat on this formula. It is rather inaccurate between the levels of 1-60. However, at level 60+, the exp is give or take 3% off. The intent of this function is to determine the amount of exp for levels above 99, so take this function with a grain of salt: it's not going to be 100% accurate... more like 88% accurate.

So: Without further ado,

The Formula:

X is level and Y is exp needed

Y = 1.1240002159979X^4 - 169.81098284753X^3 + 8443.2450488426X^2 - 146185.46656323X + 586908.5427719

Rather inaccurate? It gives 448998.106395 xp for level 1, couldn't possibly take that as a formula if it misses the right answer by 5400 times :?

actually this isnt that hard. if you took alg 2.. maybe even alg 1 you should know how to do this. lol.

all he did was put in the info into the lists.. went to graph. then did the function that follows the line with the slope and shows the rest of it. yawn. you just hit buttons.
