Sharks or Lobbies?

I think this is the perfect money vs lvls situation.

Ive gotten in the middle of a tohugh desicion, I am getting close to 80 fishing, and from then on I have a choice, to either fish 120k lobbies till 99, or 100k shark to 99?

lobbies:

About 4 times faster

but i need 120k of em

theyre worth only 250 each (giving me only 30m in the end)

will take longer to get 99 cooking

Shark:

about 4 times slower

yet i only need 100k of them

theyre 1k each 9giving me 100m in the end)

and a quick 99 cooking

So which way do you think would be the best?

(btw it will be my 3rd 99 skill, so I will not go insane doing it)

an easy medium would be to trade cooked sharks for raws which is what most people do i myself would do that if you dont wana fish them all ur self

and if u do want to fish them all go for sharks casue they would be incrediably easy to sell as lobbies woudl take forever

Just an average player with a horrible name...

were talking about raising fishing and getting money, not cooking.

You must remember that the #1 resource in RS in not money, it's time. If you can make 70m in the time you saved from doing lobbies, then by all means, do lobbies.
no i cant make 70 in that time (well probably not), but there are other factors too, for example, with sharks ill save time when getting cooking to 99.

Well, if it takes 4 times faster to get lobbies (4x250=1k) and you need 20k more of them then go for sharks because you're getting the same ammount money at the same speed only you don't hace to fish that extra 20k.

According to the fishing and cooking guides here:

Monkfish- level 62 fishing and cooking; 120 xp fishing, 150 xp cooking.

Shark- level 76 fishing, level 80 cooking; 110 xp fishing, 210 xp cooking.

Monkfish require completion of the Swan Song quest.

Monkfish fish as fast as lobbies. From my observations, however, the fishing spots move a lot.

I do not know at what level monkfish stop burning with cooking gauntlets, but I would imagine that it is a lower level than shark. Burning rates are less cooking on ranges, so I would suggest cooking in Catherby at the range by the bank. In comparison, you must be level 94 to stop burning sharks.

I do not know what the market is like for monkfish, so you may choose sharks if you want the most liquid assets. If you aren't as concerned about the money, I'd fish and cook monkfish to about cooking level 90 or so. Stock up on Chef's Delight and Chef's Delight (m), switch to fishing sharks (or buy raw), stockpile enough cooked sharks for the average buyer, and switch to trading cooked sharks for raw.

This can be modified depending on how fast you want to get to fishing 99.

Oh yeah, finishing RFD will definitely help. The range in Lumbridge castle burns less.

I believe someone said that the burn rate hasn't been lower since rsc, maybe i'm wrong but that's what I was told.

is it? because ive done rfd.

but anyway, monkfish would be better than lobs for sure i guess. But my minds is still shifted towards sharks...

It does. Says so in the knowledge base. Anyway, sharks are fine if you don't have a better way to earn money.

Sharks are poor cash for the time required. Monks can't be beat for speed vs. value. Try them out before you go with sharks. Lobs aren't really an option since they are VERY slow cash and poor xp. Sharks more than make up for the lack of speed with the extra value and fishing/cooking xp. I originally thought that cooking gauntlets helped prevent burning monks but now believe the opposite. Given their required level and the differences in levels between lobs with and without guantlets it should be impossible for me to burn them but rarely it happens. There is a SLIGHTLY less chance of burning with the lumby stove but if you are cooking huge amounts then I would stick with rogue's den. I would say that monks are by far superior to all other fish when it comes to speed, xp, value, and time. I bring a log and cook each load that I fish since it isn't any slower than rogue's den and I hate raising firemaking. :boohoo:

Hmm if you want to make money during the whole process, sharks seem to be better. Also the part about them taking longer than lobbs doesn't really matter, just gives you more time to read the forums  . I'd still rather fish trout and salmon, then use the saved time to rc for that extra cash...
