Fear of a painful death also known as being sensible.

I used to be scared of what comes after life as no-one will ever really know what happens till they get there. I realised that dying was in-evitable and nothing I could do would put a stop to it. Instead for a short time, my greatest fear was being killed in a violent, slow death eg, torture. Then I realised that those situations were un-likely and usually avoidable so I came to the conclusion that the thing to really fear was disease. I probally spent about 3 months of my life thinking about how I would die. I got over it when I developed a fear of bed-time for about 1 month. This was at a time when I was sleeping at my Aunts with huge windows, no curtains, a door that doesn't close and a zombie movie that scared the cabbage out of me first day of the holiday. But I'm all over them now and happy as a bunny.

I know most names of phobias are something of a Latin precedent with -phobia behind, like arachna (=spider) phobia.

So perhaps your phobia is called umbraphobia? Umbra, I thought, is Latin for shadow or darkness. But a phobia is something very very serious, if darkness makes you think you're going to die, then you can call it phobia, if you simply don't like it at all, it's kinda normal.

And I fear nothing, except me running out of enthousiasm in life ;)

edit: via la google! http://phobialist.com your phbia is called Lygophobia

phobia is greek (for fear, doncha know) as is arachna. don't call things latin when they aren't, or you will have the scary badly pixellated sheep in my avvy to answer to

and remember folks - phobias have to be irrational! you can't have leophobia, as lions are bloody scary and anyone in their right moind would be scared of one

and i have agoraphobia (open places)

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

I have this one little weird thing.

If something sharp is pointed in my direction, my eye hurts. Like, if somebody would point at me with a hayfork and move towards me (even if he is at some distance) my eyes hurt and I can't bear watching. It's not that I'm afraid that the person with the hayfork will stab me or something.. it just hurts.

i have agoraphobia (open places)

I can understand Claustraphobia but never the other way round, why is it that you fear open spaces? You don't have to answer if you don't want to though

it's a weird one, being in open places just kind of freaks me out, i find enclosed places comforting. it's similair to umbraphobia (fear of shadow/darkness) as there is no limit, although umbraphobia is usually assosciated with claustrophobia.

a psychologost could probaly give me a detailed reason why for a few hundered, but until i fork out some cash, i don't know why i have it
