MPM
I never heard of abstinence from a guy though. Actually, it happens a lot. I waited untill I was 18, and in about 2 months, I'm giving her the ring. I can also name about 10 guys off the top of my head that have saved themself as well. It's not as common as a girl doing it because guys are raised in a way that sex is a trophy, and very little more than that. ~M

I can also name quite a few guys, including myself, who are saving themselves for marriage. I had a serious relationship that lasted for 15 months, and we never went beyond a short kiss on the lips. So yes, it is possible to have a loving, serious relationship without sex. :) "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. In so far as I am a man I am the chief of sinners." - G.K. FuBai
Even the Catholic church does not say abortion is killing per se, it says that Abortion is always wrong because the point at which life (read soul for bible bashers) is formed is uncertain, therefore to do it at anytime risks killing inadvertently. caligula101
Abortions cost money. Really? As much as 18 years of wellfare support? Moreover they kill off a potential worker, who could bring in revenue for the state No they kill off another lay about that do nothing for the state other than suck up all it's money. Moreover, you will simply cause a rise in illegal births because pregant teenagers will hide - and thier families and friends are likley to help them. No, they won't get pregnant when they see the consequences. If you are prepared to strap the girl to the desk, and do the operation against her will, then you seriously need counciling. FuBai
Abortions cost money. Really? As much as 18 years of wellfare support? You have missed the point. I was emphasising that abortions are not cheap. Moreover they kill off a potential worker, who could bring in revenue for the state No they kill off another lay about that do nothing for the state other than suck up all it's money. Verify that statement. Unemployment rates are the lowest ever. Everyone who has a job contributes to the state. You have made an unbased, baised, unsubstanciated claim, that is childlike in it's simplicity and stupidity. In short, you are an idiot. Moreover, you will simply cause a rise in illegal births because pregant teenagers will hide - and thier families and friends are likley to help them. No, they won't get pregnant when they see the consequences. That's waht they said about the death sentance in America - America has more murders by percentage of population than the UK If you are prepared to strap the girl to the desk, and do the operation against her will, then you seriously need counciling. Don't make me out to be some psychologically damaged person, desperate times cause for desperate measures. The west is highly affluent and is able to easily afford these measures. The west is the richest it has ever been - these are not desperate times at all. Ok, so we have established that you are a "birch 'em and flog 'em" Sun reader. You have ignored everythign I said about psycology, social factors - and what other people have said about the Dutch education method etc. Really - you would prefer to inflict serious trauma, punishment and create a black market for illegal birthing and unregistered people living in the UK. Nice one mate.
caligula101
1. I don't read the sun, perhaps you ignored the fact that I cycle past council estates on my way to college every day? First hand experience. 2. You ignore basic facts such as how much money we're spending on this area of wellfare. 3. You seem unaware of the fact these people do not work and many do not contribute to society. ZealotZ
your statement is an extremist one, at best. you cant force people Not to have sex or have an abortion. for one, it violates our rights as people, in general, to be able to govern ourself. yes there is an age at which girls minds are still very impressionable and they are mature enough to be sexually active. this doesnt mean let them do whatever they want and then make then crap out the result later. the world just doesnt work like that. besides that, it violates any (debatable) right the fetus has/had, as well as put much much more trauma on a growing teen. Men and women look for different things through sex/relationships and when a man cannot see it from the woman's point of a view alot of things get messed up. Rose_2_Pure
1. I don't read the sun, perhaps you ignored the fact that I cycle past council estates on my way to college every day? First hand experience. I live in the Bay Area in California, and as many know the Bay Area and down is flooded by illegal Mexicans. Now, I leave for work at 6:00AM almost everyday so I don't see them on my way there nor on my way home. But I do know some people twelve-sixteen who have children or are pregnant. This, my friend, is first hand experience. You see them, I acknowledge them. And the case of underage pregnancy isn't nearly as high as you'd imagine. You speak as if they are flooding country; they aren't. 2. You ignore basic facts such as how much money we're spending on this area of wellfare. Not as much as you think because not as many as you are stating are pregnant, yes welfare still costs a lot, but not as much as you are saying. 3. You seem unaware of the fact these people do not work and many do not contribute to society. Because you see where they are all times of the day to prove whether or not they are working or not, right? That's waht they said about the death sentance in America - America has more murders by percentage of population than the UK Abortion is not killing, I proved this earlier on, perhaps you need reading lessons 4. Necromagus
Look, if you want your child to abstain from sex, just telling them that it's bad and that they're risking their immortal souls by doing it before marriage is not the way to go about it. When you're 17, your immortal soul is the last thing on your mind when you're in the back of a drive-in cinema with your date. What you as a parent should do is to be as open about it as possible, right down to the grisly details. Furthermore, make a point of it to always slip a condom into your child's pocket before they go out, preferably in front of their friends and/or date, depending on the situation. For added effect, give them a typical parentling line about it, like "don't forget to wear the love-glove". Then, when the urge does arise, your face will be the first thing your child remembers as he or she reaches for the condom. I don't know about you, but no amount of testosterone would allow me to do the deed with my mum's face in the back of my head. Nine out of ten times they will cool down just from the thought of their parents, and the tenth time that it doesn't work, they'll at least be practicing safe sex :D (Btw, this topic isn't about abortion so let's stay on topic, m'kay?) Tigra00
Nah, the solution is to never have sex. Never. Whats more, don't make contraception available to those under 21 - now there's an incentive to not have sex. Sex is a temptation of the devil. Or so the sickening religious right would have it. That's actually *not* a bad idea...Making contraception available only to those 18 and above. If I know one thing, it's that people have sex because they do not fear getting pregnant because they're using condoms...But once they do, they're like "What the hell?". If you don't make them as accessable, they might think twice. :P (Keyword: Might) Then again...If they're going to do it...Might as well be safe about it. Plus, most girls are on birth control early in life to help with their menstrual pains, which in my experience seems to make them think "It's okay, I'm on birth control now! I can have sex!" lol. You would be the creepiest parent ever. No really...Ever. Giving your child a condom is like giving them permission. My parents always told me "Wait until you're older, but whenever you do have sex, just make sure to be safe about it." and I listened. I wasn't a 13 year old with a child and a welfare check. Your child probably would be. "What that, little Billy? Going to a birthday party? Don't forget the SPECIAL balloon!"...Man, you're a weirdo. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! No one said that the only way to tell them to abstain was to say stupid things. How about talking about committment, what sex represents to you as a couple - maybe talk about the mental and emotional aspects to sex as well - talk about what the female views sex as, what the male views sex as, instead of slipping a condom in their pocket with a wink :?
