Guest XplsvBam
I guess many people would consider me emo, and I used to wear wristbands all the time but stopped now to get rid of those tan lines... alot of people stopped to ask me if I have cut marks under them -.- ussually I'd just insult/ignore them and move on. I don't try to fit into any label, I wear band tees (HIM mostly, If I'd find any other ones of good bands I'd wear them to) and element shirts I used to skateboard alot I'm in all honors this freshman year I wear tight pants cause I find them comforting, and loose clothes don't feel normal on me I play cornet I wear goth-ish black converse I listen to Elvis,70's, 80's, 90's and "emo" So I guess I'm a Band geek-nerd-oldy-emo-goth-skater kid? Most generalizations of emo weren't around few years back, cutting wrists used to be a "goth" thing only... and tight pants used to be only for skaters (still are, somewhat). And "emo" wasn't a word you'd use normally, now I hear it everyday. Frankly most Goth/emo kids have far better personalities than preppy/jocky kids IMO. Most of them that I've met are pretty cool. Heh, you're a lot like me.. You wear/do what you like best.. :) and from what I've noticed the emo/goth kids are a lot of fun to hang out with (I hung out with a bunch of them in my study hall) You do relize the magority of people wear clothes because they comfy right? Take american eagle jeans for example, they are comfy as hell. They are the best fitted jeans I can find. I wear polos and nice shirts because they are comfy, i feel good wearing them. Intelligent tid-bit: People are harsh againts stereotypical emos/goth because they don't look like they like themselves. If someone can't even take care of themselves how are they suppose to take care of their friends? Whats the point of making yourself look ugly? Use what you got. You think guys are going to ignore your personality because you are wearing a pretty blouse? Are girls going to ignore your intellect because you have clean shoes? If you think people that dress nicely are jerks because they dress nice...how does that make any sense? To me a goth/emo person puts looks way above people's personalitys. Hmm that girl is smiling she must be a [bleep]... (I mean really why don't you ever see a smiling goth/emo?) That guy is happy in his white clean shoes he must have a perfect life. Or maybe they just don't like pretending to be something else. Life sucks at home so they show that by purposly looking like [cabbage]. Or maybe they are happy being depressed...right... Make7upu101
From what I've heard people cut for various reasons- 1. The pain helps alleviate whatever other pain they have. 2. The cutting helps the cutter feel in control of their life. 3. Cutting enables the cutter to feel something Cutting on the arms for some reason has to be my only fear I can really think of. It just really creeps me out.
Notorious_Ice
^^ Thats crap, they do it for attention. There are plenty of other ways to relieve stress, calling friends, going out, doing things they like etc. Actually iv never known of anyone who cuts and doesnt tell people. That's because they don't tell people. Lol I know, I ment that ive never seen any cuts on anyones wrists or legs, when they havn't told people. At my school everyone knows who cuts and who doesn't. They are so easy to see. Don't be afraid your life will end, be afraid it will never begin.

That's because they don't tell people. Lol I know, I ment that ive never seen any cuts on anyones wrists or legs, when they havn't told people. At my school everyone knows who cuts and who doesn't. They are so easy to see. Look, not everyone does it for attention. Some people have legitimate psychological issues. And maybe someone is careful about where they cut (i.e. private areas) so no one will see - not everyone does it obviously on their arms. There are other ways to relieve stress for people who don't have psychological issues, but some people may never even consider these options - and it ISN'T THEIR FAULT - it's just the chemical imbalance in their brain. And even if someone is doing it for attention, maybe they're trying to get attention for a reason. Similarly, for example, most people who commit suicide talked to someone about it first... but dit it anyway. Everybody hug and spread the love :D
Notorious_Ice
Yeah, no offence to the people who actually do have legit psychological issues. Its the people who don't that really get to me. most of the time people do it for attention, never end up killing themselves. They just want the attention. I know at least 50 people from my school who tell their friends they want to kill themselves, but i have never known of anyone in my school to actually do it. they enjoy being depressed, because it gives them a reason to not have to work hard in life, and it gives them attention. They are so insecure about themselves they dont even want to try anything because they dont want to fail. And emo music can promote that. Don't be afraid your life will end, be afraid it will never begin.
mycowdied33
Goths and Emos need to grow up. All they do is complain about life and parents, etc, when most of these kids live in wealthy suburbs. Me and my friends actually asked this kid if he thought he was worse off then the people in North Korea. His response was "whats North Korea?" Then he was on vacation in Puerto Rico for two weeks. When he came back, we asked him how it was and he said it was terrible because he couldn't find any decent drugs. I think all emos and goths should be stuck in a room, have the door locked, and be forced to listen to 60s and 70s music. If you love someone, set them free. But if they come back, set them on fire. -George Carlin
the_trinity_11
Sorry to say, but i dislike emos/goths. They say life sucks and everything like that :-s . There's an emo girl at my school, and my friends just say "go cut your rists" and laugh. But someday she probably will, which is sad. :o PLAY this awesome game...Clicky

And I think everyone who isn't tolerant of others should be locked in a room and forced to listen to sad/depressing music. Wait, you wouldn't like being stuck there would you? So why should they be punished for acting they way they want? And as far as them complaining about life, parents, ect.. Most of them are teenagers. We're growing up and finding out how much the world really does suck. Everyone complains about something, so why be mad at them for being human? Lovelydude
It's just a ploy to get attention, and if it isn't, well the individual knows they will recieve attention. If you don't want to be labelled as a wrist-cutting, depressed youth, don't dress like those who are. Anyways if you're weak enough to dress like that, for the sake of popularity, it's more likely you'll fall into skipping school and taking drugs, then the rest of us. I dress like a normal person, I wear t-shirts, and jeans usually (in winter). Clearly not to be labelled, but because I like the way they look and they are comfortable. I admit, I have conformed to given in to popular culture, by wearing expensive brands and such, but I don't wear, the clothes I wear for social reasons. Oh and hair, don't get a haircut that makes you look like someone who gets stereotyped. Duh. I don't even have a hairstyle. Lol. Stop complaining because people stereotype you. If you dress and look like an "Emo", then people will stereotype you.
blushenka
All these people that are depressed, can get over it without drugs, or their life just improving without them doing anything. The only way their life will ever improve, is if they WANT it to. And they actually start looking for the good things and not the bad. If they are depressed in the medical term of the word, that won't be nowhere near enough. They need drugs, and even after they think they're cured, there's still the danger of relapse. Basically depression is a life long illness. The most brave thing a person can do is cope with it without letting it affect too much of his/her life. tangibleorange
Hmm. It's like all these things. There is a small percentage of "emos" who do have genuine psychological issues and don't just do it for attention. However, they are usually indistinguishable from the majority of the group who are middle-class sub-urban kids with no real problems in life. They have a place to live, food to eat and a family who loves them. And that's my two cents... FuBai
Negative effects of music are not necesarily in the subcultures you described. Alot of my firends listen to heavy Metal and emo music, without being malajusted people in the slightest. The most disturbing and damage causing people that I know listen to dance/mainstream/rap. Sp4de
What do you people honestly care? Let people live their lives how ever they want, even if it pisses you off, live with it. The world is the way it is, not your perfect utopias. If some angsty teen kids want to look like they do or act the way they do, what does it have to do with you? I honestly don't have any hate or love toward "Emos" but who honestly gives a flying flip? ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâï(̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâú_o)/̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâï

Now let me ask you, why do u think that. EMo music and hardcore music give a pure rush. Bands like silverstein that have roaring guitars, and screaming, give a rush. You feel like you can take on the world, and you get a shot of confidence. I get happy from lsitenin to this stuff. When i hear popo it makes me get angry sometimes. Emos dont want attention, if u say that YOU ARE A POSER. A real emo hates their life, and cuts. I dress somewhat emo, just because i like the clothing, and i sometimes have an emo attitude. I really do hate labels, thoguh like if a person says, o he's emo, so he is prbabl satanic too. My reaction is wtf, if i wear black whats wrong with it.
