"Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb. It was originally recorded in 1964 by Gloria Jones and became a popular song on the Northern Soul scene. It attained worldwide fame after it was covered in 1981 (1982 in the US) by Soft Cell. It has since been covered by numerous other groups.
