wakka102
thats like the only card game that has stood the test of time. It was around for as long as I can remember, pokemon came and went, yugioh came and went, but magic was around for both of those. I never played it but I saw other people at the card shop up the street (its gone now) that played it. I'll never play another card game again though because those things just eat up your money. I'd rather blow my money on clothes or something  .
Necromagus
Hrm... how about some decklists? All-common stompy: 27 Mana: 15 Forest 4 Land Grant 4 Llanowar Elves 4 Lotus Petal 25 creatures: 4 Jungle Lion 4 Pouncing Jaguar 3 Rogue Elephant 4 Scryb Sprites 4 Wild Dogs 4 Elvish Warrior 4 Wild Mongrel 8 Other: 4 Giant Growth 4 Rancor Explanation: Classic stompy, meaning you beat your opponent into a pulp with a horde of cheap, efficient creatures. It can afford to run only 15 land because all cards in the deck cost 1 or 2 mana. Llanowar Elves and Lotus Petal help as well. Land Grant also thins the deck, making it more likely that you draw creature cards once you've played out your entire hand (which can easily be around turn 3). It's a beautifully efficient deck that can rock your opponent's face off in 3-5 turns. Imagine the following scenario: Turn one: Forest, Rogue Elephant. Turn two: Forest, Lotus Petal, enchant with Rancor, hit with Giant Growth, swing with an 8/6 trampler. Poopingman
I was into it around 6 years ago, after the Urzas sets came and gone, it went steeply downhill IMO, its a mess now. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....

Soon after that I lost interest in them. #-o Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.
Zonorhc
Hrm... how about some decklists? All-common stompy: Hope you know Lotus Petal is restricted. :) Doesn't matter, I still used them. Oh, and Dark Ritual, which is illegal. I used to run Shadow... 8 Swamp 2 Lotus Petal 4 Dark Ritual 4 Dauthi Horror 4 Dauthi Slayer 2 Dark Banishing 4 Terror 4 Duress 4 Ostracize 1 Haunted Crossroads 1 Vile Requiem 2 Unholy Strength You can afford to run 8 lands in a 40-card deck because the odds are in your favour at the initial draw. Frankly, the best play I've ever managed to get with this deck was: Turn 1: Swamp, Lotus Petal (sac) -> double Dark Ritual, double Dauthi Slayer, double Unholy Strength. Empty hand. Turn 2: Ostracize, attack for 8 Turn 3: Attack for 8 Turn 4: Attack for 8, win Plus, with such a small deck size, it's very easy to get the cards you need. It's also very easy to luck out and outright lose. The other deck I ran was a Black/Green/White zombie deck using our good friend of a set, Apocalypse, and such absurd cards like Strength of Night to go with swarms of cheap 2/2 multicolour zombies. I can't remmember the exact list anymore, since it's been a good three years or so since I last played MtG. Necromagus
Yeah, I'd bring that down to 60 if I were you. Unless you're running Battle of Wits, no deck should be over 60 cards, simply because of the chances of you drawing a good card will always be larger with 60 than with >60 cards. As for Lotus Petal being restricted... it's only restricted in Vintage, but not banned in Legacy (one of the few restricted cards that isn't). Besides, there's no banned and restricted list in casual. Besides, there's no banned and restricted list in casual. Well, it's only 9 cards over 60. Not that much. I was thinking of bringing some of the lower powered creatures down, but the require little mana to summon, and kinda drain life. I dunno, I think it's a pretty good deck. <3 Hex :3> . The optimal.
Necromagus
Actually, Hex is a pretty bad card, since it's highly conditional. To be able to cast it, there need to be six creatures on the board. To get any kind of advantage out of it, at least three of those have to be controlled by your opponent(s), otherwise you're just giving them an advantage. As for the 69 card deck... let's look at a basic example. You have to draw one specific card, of which you have 4 in a deck. In a 60 card deck, the odds of you drawing that card are 4 in 60, or 6.67%. In a 69 card deck, the odds are 4 in 69, or 5.80%. That means that the chance for a succesful draw is 15% higher for the 60 card deck. This, expanded over multiple games you'll play with that, means you're shooting yourself in the foot in the long run, even if "it's only 9 cards over 60". As for which cards you should take out... Don't cut into your low-mana cost creatures too hastily. They are there to keep you alive until you can put your game winning cards on the table. Skeletal Vampire might be a good card, but it's useless if you die before you can cast it. unknownmasterofnothing
So I got from the ninja set, a white samurai that is a 3/3 indestrucible with bushido +5/+5. It didn't help me at all. A blue myrodin(sp?) sac it's counter and draw cards equal to number of permaments. Two green cards that either gave every player double their mana for lands and three forest mana each turn. I didn't have any high damagers, my draft deck was horrible. But I could stall pretty long.
