At the moment I don't own a music player after my previous one broke (it was only ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã15). For my birthday, I plan to get a really cheap Ipod (̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30 budget). I don't really need high storage space as my entire libary is less than 1 gig. I don't want this for a fashion statement, just as something that lets me listen to my music on journeys.

Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!

An MP3 player isn't automatically an iPod - some people just say 'iPod' when they mean MP3 player and that is wrong.

I have a 3rd generation iPod 20GB which I've had since 2003. My PocketPC also plays MP3s and I've got a 2GB SD card in it. I only really listen to the iPod whilst driving now, but I've got some Shure E2c earphones.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I have a 4gb mini, which I've had since about a month before the nano was released. (Damn you apple.)

I still have about 2 years left on the replacement plan, so I keep hoping the bugger breaks so they'll replace it with a nano.

I love it though, I listen to some obscure music, and none of the radio stations around play anything even remotely similar.

Got an Creative Zen Micro, 5gb. Great Mp3-player. But it's way too small for me now (storage space-wise). Looking into getting an 20gb at least, but the Creative ones with that storage space look absolutely atrocious. I can't find the Zen-20gb one anywhere. And I don't want an iPod, but they're about the only ones you see in the stores... :?

I have a 1Gb iPod mini. The battery power is appauling. I have a personal CD player as well, but I prefer to have many of my favourite songs off various albums then carting around a bunch of cds.

I have an MP3 player, and the reason I have one is, shock horror, I enjoy listening to music.

I saved up for an iPod, it cost ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã220, but it was worth it. I'm very into modern music and I never take it into school. I wanted it because I love music but I just borrow my brother's CDs...

oh... my has 512 MB... how much is that in GB? :-s

1 GB = 1000 MB.

512 MB = 0.512 GB

5 gig Creative Zen Micro. It will destroy all iPod wannabe hipsters with a fiery blast.

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.

Today I found out "putt-putt" is trademarked and you have to say "miniature golf" if you're not specifically talking about the Putt-putt company. I was pretty disheartened when I found this out... (Apparently band-aid is trademarked too...also, these might be American-only things so ignore my if they are Bubs... :P)

All the hard disk based MP3 players I've ever come across (including iPods) are measured in decimal gigabytes; not binary. That's why a brand new 20GB iPod will show up at 18.5GB in the about section - because it is 20 decimal GB (10^9 bytes) but the firmware displays it in binary GB (2^30 bytes).

The same goes for normal hard disks too.

I have a 512mb Ipod shuffle.. It was a good investment for the few months I've had it but my music collection has expanded and I can't take all my music with me anymore :( Although my birthday is just a few weeks away.. So maybe I'll ask for another Ipod with more memory (I love my Ipod and I don't care if you think it's a piece of sh*t).
