Adam007
Yes, the word noob. Or newb, n00b, whatever you want to call it. It's one of the most irritating sounding words to me. Overused, meaningless, and just a vague word used to insult on the internet. It really has no meaning anymore. It used to insult someone who had no idea what they were doing, that whole thing, but now it's just a generic insult. So I was thinking. Why is it that with some people, it's the number one used word in their internet vocabulary, and in others, never used at all? I typed out the word noob today, and realized I haven't used it in literally months. Yet some people can't go minutes without using that word. I thought, why is this? I came to this conclusion. Besides using it jokingly, the only people who really use it are the real 'noobs' themselves. They're brought up hearing it used on themselves so much, out of an insecurity thing, they attack everyone else with it. Being a 'noob' really is a bad thing to them - otherwise they wouldn't use it themselves. Think about it. Most of us never use that word unless we're jokingly using it. Myself, never. But the only peopel who really use it seriously are those low level f2p 'noobs' themselves. This now meaningless word only exists because the people who are afraid of being called one use it all the time attacking others, mostly just to cover up what they think are their own shortcomings. How often is it that when you completely prove someone wrong, all they have left is that simple four letter word, noob? Yet they somehow think that's a valid comeback. That they've just countered all your points. Well it's not. I didn't really know what the point of this thread would be when I started it, but now I've decided. It's to just show how pointlessly hypocrytical it is to use, and basically, to ask people who still use it to simply just stop. Stop dragging that stupid word over our chat screens. We don't need to see it anymore. It means nothing. Go ahead and keep using it jokingly, but just stop using it as a real form of argument or to insult people, because it's so meaningless nowadays. ThurinEthir
It's extremely annoying being called noob for no reason. If you are doing something annoying, you kind of deserve it...Sort of...Anyways, I have an example from today. I was selling 1K oak planks, and I was searching on the official forums for a buyer. I found a guy who was buying oak planks (no number...), so I pmed him asking if he was still buying them...Here's the conversation. Me: Hi...Are you still buying oak planks? Him: Ya how many Me: 1K Him: Rofl u sucha noob i want 10k+ at once, not a nooby 1k u such a noob noob noob At this point, I remove him...(Note the grammar...). And does anyone actually have 10K+ oak planks? Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. Most of them are complaints about being called one, entirely different from this analytical approach. I think if you did call someone a noob, they wouldn't feel offended (unless they thought they were one), but mostly just be mad because they were irritated at you using the word. I mean if you want to annoy someone go ahead and use the word. I'm just saying it has no meaning anymore as an actual word beyond being an automatic comeback, which itself has no meaning. For everyone situation of using the word noob there's a 1000% chance you can pick a better word that actually applies to the situation.

ghostman
You really shouldn't call anyone a noob. Even if they are lower level than you, they might possibly have more playing experience, or have a main account. Just if someone is acting immature, that might mean that they are fooling around, or just being silly. Come on people, it's just a game, although a good one at it. Currently P2P. I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. Formerly known as: Ghstkill8, Serene Ghst, Genius Goats

Giordano
Noob is the best weapon of distraction in C-wars. Tell someone a "noob "and "kill meh you granny n00b" and they'll be dumb enough to fall for it and chase you around. Your mates attack him while not getting hurt...then they die saying, you guessed it, "n00b!" "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." hungryblader
my friend told me that a noob is someone under lvl 30. And if someone is goofing off, being immature, then they should expect the name. those who post about it just 'cause they're mad are n00bs themselves. But not Adam. He's using it to analyze and talk about it. "Dost hath not giveth thy name 'noob' to thy brethren... ...Or thou art must considereth thyself a noob as well." Pinkbullet3
What really makes me angry is when people of a lower level than you calls you a "noob." I was fighting some Mossies the other day on Crandor. A ranger, whose combat level was 11 levels lower than mine, stole my kill. I ran up to him, did the "raspberry," "angry," and "stomp" emotes, and then he says, "What do you want noob?" People who use that term don't know what they're thinking/doing. :notalk: ^ Blog. gunshafted
the word NEWB means a person who is new to the game. newbs should not be in[bleep]ed and should be helped whenever possible NOOBs also have no idea what they are doing, but wont admit it. this behavior becomes very annoying in any game newb: new to game noob: new to game but tries to act cool by pretending they've been playing for ages using the word noob as an insult is stupid, as it is not meant to be used as an insult siggity siggity shwa
