Ad revenue from a site like Runescape is HUGE, especially those little flash thing where you shoot a gun at a target. Kids play those, and end up getting the "click" that makes even more money. Other services: about $1 million a month. This is made from java programming that Jagex does for other websites. That's quite a nestegg, right there. I work configurating and building servers and it is not rare for a reasonably substantial company to order 100 servers. i have personally worked on an order of 100 blade servers for a healthcare company in the uk. On topic: There are often more than 200k people on at once now-a-days. And for the person who said that there are only 200,000 members, you must be crazy. That would mean that there are almost half of the members on at once at any given time. 200k members? I dont think so. (Yes i read the post I quoted that said there are 750k members. Pay for all the server spaces, pay for server maintenence, pay for new servers.. Pay for computers and software for the programs they use to make new items/quests/etc. And they have to pay their employees! So they do make a good amount of profit, but once you add expenses it's probably halfed or so.
