Peronix
If this is an anti-macro measure, I would think that they would have at least informed us so we could be alert as to the change, instead of making us find out for ourselves. It's probally a glitch.
rft
I'm glad someone made a thread about this, I thought that it was just me! It happened to me when I was attacking shades - I had to check that auto retaliate was on several times before i realised something was up. hope they fix it soon - it's really annoying. Sirob1414
are you that lazy, that it bothers you when you must click on a monster to fight it once in awhile... seriously, it's not a big deal, maybe bringing up the issue is fine, but i don't see why it's something "irritating". Its not a mattter of being lazy. It really a pain when you are fighting sme thing that requires food and pots especially when you arent used to not reattacking. You are just always expecting to reattack and when a big ol monster comes and whacks u a few times. http://hiscore.runescape.com/index_lite ... =sirob1414

captainpoet
Well from the sound of this here is what I'm thinking what's going on behind the scenes at Jagex. As you've been saying this is a pretty recent thing. As well it was probably back in July that they initiated it so that if you X-out in combat with auto off that you won't log out until you're out of combat. Meaning that if you're pking somebody and they were to say run to the axe hut then X-ed out with auto off that they would eventually die. That is a good thing, but one thing I noticed about that same period is that you could have auto-on and modified your keyboard you could just auto attack until the monsters stopped attacking you without having to worry at all about dying (if you were careful.) This results in a way of cheating that isn't macroable and thus impossible for Jagex to stop with how they currently had the system. Now the route they took is a route so that auto attack does get a bit gnarfed, but compared to the alternative of how they have things set up it would be either that or allowing X-ers to X out with auto off and save their own hides literally about 80% of the time. Oh yeah the keyboard modifying I was talking about was simply just wedging something along the lines of a piece of paper in the arrow keys so that their is constant activity on your character so that you'd get a free half hour of training...sure there was random events, but if you're 3 iteming you don't really care about those =P. Dragon_Scyth
new anti afk system :-k I hope. It's really not a bad idea if after a while you have to manually re-attack, then auto-retaliate begins to work again. I think this would help anti-afk's, and only be a minor inconvenience to honest players. But it just means less posts here im sure alot of people (like me right now) Post here while training with auto retaliate on -) "Boredom got me playing, Boredom stops me from playing. It's a vicious cycle."
Gugge
Earlier today I was at shades, and had it happen once, only once today. The day I made my other post it happened repeatedly. I also was at abyssal demons today, and had absolutly no problems there. I could however imagine how horrible it would be if you had to manually attack them after each time they teled.... So whatever it it, it's not happening all the time - but I have absolutly no clue what triggers the autoretaliate to act up :( Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)

alcoolj
Its most annoying in wildy! Someone atacks you, and you dont auto-retaliate even though its on! Taking 3 or 4 hits while trying to find your attacker and click on him manually to return fire has killed me twice in 2 days - grrrrr.
xSxqPowerx
Ooh. Also noticed, seeing as I kill lots of abby demons. It hasn't been too annoying for me though, as it seems to only happen once, and then after I click to attack the demon it doesn't ever happen again while I'm logged on.
