Don't pay attention, I'm just being stupid.

I just wanted to share with all the Tip.it community, (or at least those who frequent the Off-Topic forum) I had an IQ test during my last school year for advanced placement classes, and I just learned the results recently.

Apparently I have the highest IQ that this particular person has tested in 25 years. My IQ is so high, in fact, that the test couldn't even accurately measure it because I "hit the ceiling" in several areas of the test. I don't mean to brag, but ... well no, I guess that's exactly what I mean to do.

Anyway, just to turn this into a valid discussion, (instead of a thread composed of me lording my superiority over everyone else);

What is everyone's IQ (as best as you can guess, if you've never had an IQ test [Although you couldn't really guess your own IQ because .. well ... that one's pretty obvious]). And hey, internet IQ tests don't count because they're fixed. My two sisters, my mom and myself all took the same online IQ test, and we all received the same result.

My greatest ambition is to kill every member of the human race.

However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.

I totally agree that internet quizes are fake. I got a 205 on an internet IQ thingummywut a few years back. Good Lord, 205... just read through some of my posts on this board then see if you agree with that. You probably won't.

We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.

I have absolutely no clue. I assume I'm pretty smart. I take the highest honors classes that our school district offers, I have good common sense, and I don't have a reason to think it would be low. My dad has a high IQ. Not sure what it is, I just know it's high...

Btw, congrats on "hitting the ceiling".

IQ doesnt determin what grades you get in school. it basically determins your logical sense... *correct me if im wrong*

You could have an Iq of 160 and fail ur classes.

you could also have an Iq of 120 and fail...

but a person with an IQ with 100-110 could Pass

I got 65. What a merry result that was.

I've taken one pencil and paper test and got 141. I also took a test such as the poster (to get into an advance placement) and was in the top fifth percentile of all of those tested (teachers referred the smartest students to take the test). They didn't give us our IQ though.

And yea, IQ doesn't measure intelligence, it just measures logical skills.

(which are useful)

Your school is pretty incompetent if it places people in advanced classes based on IQ points.

Well when I was littler I got into the "gates" program the elementry schools had. You had to have a good IQ to get in them.

I can't remember it, but it was a nice one I guess, probaly around the 130-140 mark? IDK realy because it was some years ago.

Just to prove the IQ thing a bit:

My little sister (junior right now) probaly got an IQ back of the 110-115/120 range. However, she does very well in school, is very determained and works hard at it.

My little brother (freshman this year  ) got an IQ a little lower than mine when he did the whole thing for GATES back in the day. Say if I got a 135 he probaly got like a 125-130. He's a smart kid, but... lets just say he is realy freaking lazy. :) .

Fun thing is he is unbanned on these forums now, so he may see this thread >_>...

And finaly, me, I just finaly last year started working and my grades have improved. Not to the point of "amazing-ness" (like my little brother, monkey_933, I also suffer from this desiese which is laziness) but I brought them up from a C average to a B-B+ average :) .

Anyways, IQ doesn't mean a whole lot except for your basic common sense.

75 and under is qualifications for mental [developmentally delayed]ation, so I hope your test was wrong. :P

Oh, and I've gotten 130 and over before on tests. Never took an actual pencil and paper test, though.

Everyone I meet tells me I'm ingredibley intelligent, but meh. Just today (well, yesterday, It's past midnight :P) a doctor at the clinic told me I was extremely articulate and should go to college ASAP. I've been thinking about being a doctor or something, but I didn't finish highschool for personal reasons (not stupid reasons like a kid, boredom, drinking, drugs, etc...It was a valid reason), but I did get a GED and got above average scores on it. I think out of 800 possible on all of them, I got 600-ish on them. I found that impressive considering it was 9-12 grade material, and I only passed the 10th grade. Not to mention I hadnt done any school work for a year and I didn't study a lick for them. I've never studied a SINGLE time in my life and I always had a B-ish average. If I studied I could do great things, I guess. I have to go to a technical school or something and freshen up on my math so I can pass college algebra, but other than that, I can do anything. Everything else comes easy to me as it's just memorization and logical reasoning. Math is math, you can't memorize it. :P We'll see how it goes...

Oops, was rambling.

Using a standard pen-and-paper ACE matrix test, 128. There are 2 ways to measure the score, the Cattell method and some other I forgot (the one giving you lower and the other higher points). A real IQ test purely analyses your mathematical skills and hence may not be comprehensive, i.e. not catering to all areas of intelligence.

Using the cattell method of calculating score, you need about 144 to enter Mensa. And that's about all you can do with the score, other than boast... 8-) If you get over 171, you are considered a genius by most testing standards.

Often, I just get about 60 though, because I'm so tired of all the online tests that I randomly choose from any of the options. With this method, I actually once got 104 IQ... Not very accurate, considering somebody doing the test honestly could get a lower score.

Online tests really vary. One I was told I got a 120, one told me I had a 142 and the other a 134.

The only one I really rely on is the National Test The Nation on BBC, according to that mine is ~135.

My ICT teacher actually challenged us to go onto the web and find a random IQ test and get the lowest possible score. I got a 37, but my friend got a 29. :(
