RuneScape 101 (Parents' Guide) - updated map!

Remember the parents' guide? Well, here was the old map (thanks, Tommy213!)...

worldmap1fy5.jpg

and the new...

worldmap1ys5.jpg

Here's a version of it with some stuff circled... first... a mysteriously icy island. And doesn't the area in the south east ALMOST look the the border of the desert sands to the water? AND! Look at feldip hills! A new and interesting area!

Oh yes, and doesn't the map seem a bit... rounded almost?! Look at the wilderness and Miscellania/Etceteria and where I drew lines around the edges!

EDIT: Now that I look at it more, that's DEFINITELY rounded!!

Discuss this new and exciting find! Maybe this will be soon, hmm?

Also, zsandmann made a very nice map showing outlines...

Gilenor must really be tiny, you can cross the whole world in less than hour easily, so if it's round it's a really small planet....

No one said it was Earth sized, but judging by the curves in the corners we are only seeing one hemisphere, so they could easily add 50% more land mass.

Look at the cloud formations I outlined in red, those to me seem to shadow coatlines and several odd blobs would hint at new islands, the one in the south being as large as Ape Atoll. And another south of Tutorial Island. Isdanfar (sp?) seems shaped like North America, and the Feldip Hills look like the top of South America with a Gulf in between. Notice the new sandy beach area south of the ogres, I see several blue spots, looks like a port to me.

Ogre Civilization?

My hopes for October BTS:

Mourning's Ends Part III / please let us in Prifddinas!

Oh wait, looking at it, it is going to expand there. YEY!

So areas of overland expansions:

Morytania

Kharidian Desert

South of Gu'tanoth.

I'm looking forward to the last one the most.

The bottom left already exists, it's just the area south of Gu'Tanoth.

EDIT: And the winter elemental has been removed.

No no, it doesn't. Look closer, there's a newer area south of where Rantz/chompys/etc are.

EDIT: There you go. Yes, that's my second most looking forward to. First is PRIFDDINAS.

the map is so nice :3>

It means we currently explored half of the runescape world, which also means that in 4 years, when the map will be so much more expended, u will be able to get from the west to the east just by walking one square :P

(yeah im dreaming but it would be funny)

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

But if the world was rounded where would the East and West start...

A round world?! Here there be Dragons!

It now provides enough room for a HUGE area of the world to form.

Oh, and on the note of the winter elemental disappearing.

JaGex REALLY likes to taunt us in the Knowledge base, and post "leaks" every once in a while. They may happen, they may not. Regardless, they are fully intentional, almost like Easter Eggs.

Yes, they do, don't they.

Winter Elemental, Dragon Pick, Stalls in Draynor.

Then they also taunt us in game, with the Dragon Plates and Horses.

A perfectly round world (like planets come close to) would mean that the further you are from the equator, not surprisingly, exactly at the observatory in this view, you would have to walk less to go from east to west and around back to east again.

This would mean that in its current form, after walking a trip around the world, North and South wouldnt line up anymore.

If any such a world is presented, the whole map based on Squared will have to be tossed out fo the window... Or we're really living on a cilinder shaped world.

Gaa islands above wildy! *runs around and faints*

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

Ahh hah! When you look at the current world map, the areas you pointed out

are mysteriously covered up with black patches!

wow, thats very cool, espechially that south of field tip hills part. Very nice map also.

Btw, why is everyone thinking that the world will be made round just because of one picture? its obviously made like that to make the map look nice, i really doubt they will make it round and limit the amount of room. Use common sence people.
