Waking too early..

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever woken up a few hours early for no reason at all?

Today, I woke up exactly 4 hours early, at 2:42am. Once I started to get ready for school 45mins later did I relize I woke up 4 hours early by accident...its 3:30am now.

I once also woke up at 1am In the morning and started getting dressed for shool. My dad came over right when I was leaving the house and asked what the hell I was doing..

Anyone relate?

Oh and I still have 4 hours before I have to leave for shool, entertain me people.

Lol i've done that before.

One time I woke up like an hour or two early and walked over to the bathroom to take a shower. Well, about half way through the shower I checked my watch and saw it was only like 4AM :x . Kind of felt stupid than lol.

Another time was when we first moved over to germany. We were staying in the guest hotel and were still getting a bit used to the jet lag (fun stuff!). Well for no reason at all at like 2-3am I got up and walked outside of our room (without a key... ). It was about a minute after this I realized what I was doing and questioned my self what the hell am I doing? Ah well, I knocked on the door and got let in, LOL.

:D

This is why I don't go to sleep before midnight. Otherwise I am up hours before I should be.

Lol, this morning i woke up at 5 am... thats like two and a half hours before i usually get up.

I always wake up just a few seconds before the alarm on my cellphone goes off. It's freaking me out because it's not a coincidence, it's happened probably hundreds of times. Might have a disorder that I unconsciously count seconds in my head, but it's dumb. If I set it to alarm at 6.53 AM, I wake up at 6.52 and so on... Probably telling my doctor about it even though it's nothing serious. Sometimes useful, actually.

Whoah, wierd. I used to be able to look at a clock at exact 30 minute intervals, kind of scared me. And yes, I did used to have problems waking up at 2-5AM, it went away though.

Bleh, once I get off my lazy bum and go to Imageshack, there will be a picture here.

I'm a strong believer that our bodies have an internal clock, if you will, on them. Whenever I *know* I need to wake up for something, I will wake up several hours early sometimes...It's like my bodies way of saying "Okay, you didn't miss it...yet...Snoooore..." :P

My aunt refuses to use an alarm clock after 16 years of going to sleep and waking up at the same time. I still think it's a bit risky. She also sets her clock 15 mins a head so she thinks she's getting some extra sleep.

Personally I think she :wall: a few too many times.

I do that too. The really freaky bit is that it's not even due to habit, I amuse myself by doing it when we're going for a trip or something and have to get up extremely early. I'll look at the clock, decide when I want to wake up, and whaddya know, I actually do it.

It only works with a "semi-normal" sleep cycle. Quite sure I could never do it if I wanted to sleep for only two hours.

I can relate to that, I usually wake up on my own a few minutes before the alarm goes off, I just hate the noise my alarm clock makes... Its nothing freaky tho, if you keep waking up at the same time, your mind

gets used to it.

I don't usually get up hours before I wake up, but on weekends I go to bed latest - yet wake up earliest. School days are the opposite, go early get up later (or rather, more lathargic).

I always wake up 5 mins before my alarm though. :x

I always look at my alaem and when it's like 10 minutes before i have to get i just go downstairs and watch some tv for 10 minutes ::'

Too many times, especially during the school year and when I have to go some place. :wall: Woken up at 12:00AM once (went to bed at like 10PM), and I was supposed to be up at 4:30 to catch a plane... Whoops eh?

Nothing wrong with that, I think a lot of people are like that. I am sort of, I don't always get up a few seconds before, it can be anywhere between 15 minutes before, and 2 minutes after. My alarm might not even work, I don't know.

It doesn't have to be the same time everyday either. In the summer sometimes I had to wake up at 5:00, and then the next day at 7:00.

That happens to me too. I believe it's because of our bodies knowing when that beeping sound will come on. We know that it'll be ina a few minutes/seconds so we get up automatically. I am almost sure of it. It's simply because of our everyday routine.

Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!

I've done the waking up was too early thing before. A few years ago I woke up, jumped into my shower, and went down stairs to discover I still had 3 hours before I had to leave.

its even more annoying when its a school night, u wake at 4:00am or somthing and then try go bak 2 sleep. u fall asleep at like 6:40 and then wake again about 20mins later to find u hav 2 go 2 school1 #-o

that always happens 2 me since i hav 2 get ready for school at 7:00am as i live far away from my school.

I love the fact that you were about to leave for school that early. :D

This school year I've only been getting around 7hrs sleep which is very little for me. I'm usally drowze in the morning but I have never gotten up and started to get ready for school in the middle of the night. Something in my head would click that the alarm didnt go off so no reason to get up lol.

Yeah -- once I went to bed at about 10, then woke up, looked at my watch and saw that it said 12:00. I started freaking out, thinking I'd slept in, and raced downstairs to start getting ready to go to college. Of course, it was midnight, and I just hadn't woken up sufficiently to realise this.

My problem is that I do not wake up on time, even with an alarm, I set it for 5:50, and I dont wake up til about 6:20-6:30, and I have to leave for the bus at 6:50 :wall:

I do that all the time. At least twice a week. :( I actually did that this morning. It really sucks.

You two might have DSP syndrome. I was diagnosed with it at about age 10, and yes it did significantly affect my life because I found it very hard to wake up at about 6am for school, when I had gone to bed at about 2am last night (unwillingly, I just couldn't fall asleep before that).

some people bother to look at the alarm clock before they wake up
