September 29, 200619 yr When you're completely new to the game and would walk off tutorial island for the first time, usually on f2p, the closest bank used to be Varrock (since you probably dont know the bank in desert and dont have many coins to spare for the guards). Navigating to Varrock when completely new at the game is quite tough (dark wizzards at the stonehenge). So my guess would be they added it to make life a little easier on the completely new people that come to the game. -DRAYNOR VILLAGE- noobs+jail gaurds and draynor dark wizards=bad well i dont know if most noobs are like i was, but i stook to the path and got owned by the highwayman:(, stopped me going in that direction for ages, anyway, this is just for f2p new players Want to be my friend? September 29, 200619 yr Even helps me out as 89 F2p close to balls of wool may seem nothing for member, but i can make some amulets and get the strings without waiting on the poeple i hired to get 'em (they usuall quit after 100 to -.-)
September 29, 200619 yr Author Here's a thought. If you don't have the mentality to avoid or run away from a guard... why do you need a bank? Think about it. :-k
September 29, 200619 yr Clearly Daver, no one is as smart as you when it comes to running from a guard. I bet they're also too dumb to know how to spell succeed. You must be one of the smart ones that hit 500+ skill total on your first day, right? And why are you whining about Jagex doing something that might help out new players? Does it somehow ruin your Runescape experience?

And as long as you follow the road after going past the jail you won't be attacked by these dark wizards. Problem solved. I should know because my "other" noob account doesn't get 1-hit.

Aww don't be mad I type faster than you. ;) Next time make sure you check every single word you type before you type anything from now on, b/c I'm sure you have made an error or two before. Don't flame someone on how they made a typo. (very mature..) Also this topic wasn't flaming jagex decision to put a bank there. It was a discussion of was it nescessary.
September 29, 200619 yr Aww daver, I'm so sowwy? I'm pointing YOU out because nearly every single post I've ever read from you is full of nothing but condescending arrogance when you're responding to other people's comments. Hilariously enough, I don't actually think you knew how to spell succeed, considering you typed it out the same way both times. Dictionary ftw? The only thing you gave as a reason for it not being there was because if people were too dumb to know their way around they didn't need a bank anyways. Again, I'm laughing at the thought that you somehow managed not to stagger around like an idiot your first day. On topic: It helps new players in F2p. It gives members fast access to a spinning wheel. It is, in fact, a great place for a bank, especially for those f2p players. I'm also just STEAMING at your ability to type faster than me. In fact, I think I'll go cry in a corner.
September 29, 200619 yr IMO, this game's already pretty easy and anything else they do to make it easier doesn't much matter. There's a bank now near a feather spot, a yew tree, some oaks, some quests, some wool, a fishing spot, an altar, a tele spot, a mining/smithing spot, and some other stuff. But that all shouldn't matter because there's much better places for all that ('cept the quests). I shan't say where those places are because then you'd crowd those places, and bacab wouldn't like that because bacab hates people and huge crowds make him freak out. Clearly Daver, no one is as smart as you when it comes to running from a guard. I bet they're also too dumb to know how to spell succeed. That's why you spelt it that way both times you used it on the first page? It was even bolded once. Sure, typo, yeah. We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
September 29, 200619 yr It also helps for when runecrafting, ok so it's still a way to go, but better than banking at draynor or al kharid. \

Discussion or not, it seems for every constructive comment of why the bank is a plus, is responded to by a unconstructive rant. The bank is a nice touch, something I thought was needed ever since RSC. As you seem to enjoy belittling the ability of new players to play the game so much, let me bring up this point: would it take the same amount of effort and thought to figure out there is a bank on the top floor, as much as it is to travel to with Draynor, Al Kharid, or Varrock? It's not like there is a "$" symbol found on the ground floor. So either option takes some sort of higher cognitive ability. The point of the bank, is simply to have a bank, at the starting hub of the game. When you get off Tutorial Island, your inventory is packed with new items. Wouldn't it be nice to deposit these items off the get go, so you can start interacting with the environment without a full inventory? And in case they do get lost and die while in route to another bank, before they find one, they would then have to start from scratch item-wise, which would probably lead to negative outcomes like begging. The bank is a win-win situation across the board for F2P, and a plus for P2P, cept' to the people who got all angry over a reward bonus lost in RFD. That is all. ~ZidaneCT ~ Proud Original Founder of the Tip.it Events Team (TET) ~ ~ Leader of the Runescape Party Host Committee (RPHC) ~ "There's no such thing as a never-ending story," You murmured as you looked away...

September 29, 200619 yr Now I guess f2p can now fish for lobs and swordies and use the free tele to lumby deposit at new lumby bank and by you have walked to PS and taking the back to Karampaga it has recharged and repeat process̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæmy theory
September 29, 200619 yr its for the people in free world....in free, theres no bank in the basement..it was a pain for me as f2p to walk all the way to alkharid or something to get to a bank...and lumby tele was virutually useless.. Click here to see my goals and achievements thread

It's a long walk from Lumbridge City to Port Sarim, and guards can't be theft at F2P. :-k
September 29, 200619 yr For F2P'ers :D All Quests completed99 Thieving achieved on January 10th, 200899 Defense achieved on August 3rd, 200885 Slayer achieved on July 31st, 20086 Dragon boot drops, 14 Whip drops
September 30, 200619 yr I personally don't like that bank, free teleport and all these tutors. Now noobs doesn't have to learn anything anymore. That makes it boring for them. I agree, I don't see the point of having basically two Tutorials, because that's all Lumbirdge is now. If people would acually READ tutorial island, then it wouldn't be nessicary to have all these damn practical babysitters everywhere in Lumbridge. I personally think that Jagex should make people take and IQ test before starting Runescape, because this at the moment obviously isn't making me want to go out and say " Hey everyone, I play Runescape, look at me!!"..unless I plan on wanting trash thrown at me. |Msg me me in-game | IrreIephant| ^ capital i
September 30, 200619 yr Personally, this makes sense to me. I've never played any other MMORPG that didn't start new characters in a town with a bank. I always wondered why they decided on Lumby, and not Fally or Varrock as the starting point. From a new (meaning they've never played RS before) characters standpoint, it seems kinda pointless to make them travel a good portion of the (free) map just to get to a bank. A starting town should have most of the basics, so that players can get a feel for the game; and no, a 10 minute run through a tutorial, only showing them how to do something, doesn't put it in context when you're playing the game proper. Then when they are comfortable or ready for more, they can move on at their own pace. If Jagex ever made a perfect update, there would be players complaining about nothing to complain about.[hide=My Stats][/hide]
September 30, 200619 yr Thats hilarious, Revenga, considering you'd probably fail that IQ test rather miserably. Seriously, some of you are acting like your first day was like the birth of Jesus in an MMORPG.

September 30, 200619 yr The part about the IQ test? It was a joke. Your score would probably be too low to actually register. Some of you act like new players nowadays are being coddled and held afloat and spoiled when they start playing. Since none of you whiners probably started back when Runescape was young, you have no idea how easy it was for you to start. It's a good update.
September 30, 200619 yr And I thought it was a privillage to be able to bank in Lumbridge. The new bank ruins one of the concepts of Recipe For Disaster. And even if its to support the newest players you will need to think that maybe if they got directions to the Draynor Village or Al Kharid bank they could learn to navigate around Runescape better and not ask people like me for directions to 'where's edgeville'. No Sig!
September 30, 200619 yr You do realize, beud, that you get the bank once you start recipe for disaster? Yes, an incredible priviledge for being able to grab a rotten tomato, a fruit blast with ashes, a drink you buy for a few coins in a pub, and the ever-so-rare eye of newt. Talk about hard work!
