Giordano
KABOOM! To be honest I hope world war 3 starts. I want some excitment in my life, I wana go kill some crazy men. As long as we get it over with quickly (before I'm 18) and don't have to use the draft, then I kind of hope someone goes to war with N. Korea.. I say if they pull s* like that, they deserve what's coming.. lololol yeah good point, america have never used a nuclear bomb have they? Oh wait? Japan! =D> We should kill Americans because they used nukes! According to you. You wouldn't like that would you? I dont undersatand why people can't take a walk with the other countries shoes. Too see why they're making war/nukes and not cuz "THEY HATE US" for no reason South Korea reported a 3.8 degrees earthquake, so yes, it it true.I heard it was 4.2. :? I think the tests are just going to stir up wars. You don't usually make Nuclear weapons for anything apart from war, my guess is Iran is getting ready to attack or to be attacked. Oh no. :x Thus US has been making wars from 1945-Present "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." pro28
North Korea is brash, not suicidal. The only thing we have to worry about is if they begin to sell their nukes. With the state their economy is in right now, unfortunately, that is highly possible.

WutangFlu
@Nick_6464 Thus US has been making wars from 1945-Present that is one of the dumbest things ive ever heard.. Ex. 1945 = WW2... ---We joined WW2, we didnt start it. If anything we helped end it. ---If anything, we only declared war by the provocation of japan. 1950 - Korean War. --We went to assist S. Korea in there efforts against N. Korea... -- i wouldnt say US made that a war. ect. ect. Basic ideal from me is that first to attack is the one responsible for starting a war, Japan (Pearl Harbor), Afganistan (Osama/Teoorrist attacks ect.) I could understand some wars, such as Vietnam we went in with, in my opinion, little to provoke us. So dont state some rambling opinion of which you have no fact to prove so. Unless you were being sarcastic... -.-
Giordano
What I was saying, by Biabf's statement, it means the US was "provoking wars". Zonorhc
To whoever wrote the letter to N Korea earlier in this thread, I remember seeing something almost exactly to that effect last year. It was datd to about 1930 I think, where Germany were gaining power and I think it was the UN at that point (wasn't called the UN, but i cannot remember its name - it was some world peacekeeping organisation) sat back and 'imposed sanctions', which had no effect. That was the League of Nations, which was by far and away the single most idiotic concept of a diplomatic body the world has ever seen. To do anything, it required a unanimous vote from all its constituent members, and one veto meant that it couldn't go ahead with anything. When Japan invaded Manchuria, all the League did was reprimand them, but they couldn't do anything because Japan vetoed the decision to take action. Yeah, try keeping the peace that way. I'm glad the UN exists, if only for the sole fact that the League of Nations doesn't. A nuclear war is in nobody's interests, although the US will definitely win one. As sick as it may sound, the US can afford to lose a few million people far more than North Korea can. Even going by World War I-era strategy (if your losses - enemy's losses = a positive number, you win) America wins. My guess is that Kim Jong Il is just going to use this as another bargaining chip for food aid so his pathetic little country doesn't starve while it's busy growing his drug crops and funding his decadent personal life. Like I said, the moment he decides to launch a nuke-capable missile in anyone's direction, China is going to look up there and discipline his sorry backside. They really wouldn't want instability in East Asia. As for Japan mobilising, they won't. From what I've heard, the Japanese people are as anti-war as they come. Sure, they still make a big deal of the old "glory days" when they were lording it over their region, but they won't forget the fact that the last time they were in a war, they got nuked. You'll relise that one day. His reasoning is flawed because at it's highest effective altitude, an EMP device could only destroy a single city's power network. And what use is a gas-powered car if the electric ignitor has exploded. EMP would send us back to the stone age. Tigra00
One less country American is going to try and push around. Good stuff. On the contrary. Iran, Syria and North Korea are all one step away from getting face-smashed as it is. We're not usually ones to cower when someone does something we don't like... You see, we have this idiot for a President. He can do whatever he want under the pretense of 9/11. If he launches a nuke at Disney World saying it was an Al Queda training base, I gaurentee you there would be millions here supporting him as long as he said "Nine-Eleven", "War on Terror" or "Freedom" in a speech about it. Not even kidding. And this all from the same man who said "There should be limits to freedom." on live TV years back. Geez... It would also be very naÃÆÃâÃâïve to say that North Korea is going to do anything but use its nuclear capability to show off. The vast majority of what Kim Jong Il's misguided regime does is pathetic sabre-rattling in order to intimidate other nations into giving more food aid. If they actually decided to fire off a nuke and blow up some city, no matter whose it is, you can bet the whole region is going to pay them a very angry visit. China and Russia don't want an upstart nuclear power in their region, because they're still busy trying to get their own affairs in order, and the last thing they want is Pyongyang yelling out, "OH YEAH COME ON INVADE MY REGION, AMERICA!" Iran... well, Iran is a different story. The people can actually look out and see what the West can offer, as opposed to North Korea's blissfully ignorant peasantry. That, and the country is run by fundamentalists, rather than just some grandiose drug lord. Zonorhc
that was the equivalent of an EMP, i dont think a nuclear explosion would do that. A nuclear explosion emits an electro-magnetic pulse. This is why all military electronics are EMP-shielded, just in case. A detonation of high enough altitude (see Starfish Prime) can have a very large EMP burst. However, the fact of the matter is that North Korea does not have any missiles of sufficient range, nor nuclear devices of sufficient yield, to be able to fry all the electronics in the US. Also, most non-civilian electronics, and some that are, have a degree of EMP shielding.
