I went on a friends computer and knowing him, he had probably gone to some questionable sites. Made that mistake, got hacked. End of story. Those people who really have got hacked have often just been scammed to say their password (NEVER do that), and the scammer takes their account. that the people saying that they got hacked has increased probalby comes of that more people are playing RS and alot of more people thinks that scamming is a good way to make money, which it is not. Denismage Posted October 11, 2006 Share Posted October 11, 2006 This is something I can't understand, every single day i hear about friends getting hacked, someone breaking into their account and taking every single item. I have played for 3.5 years with the same password on different accounts. I've never been "hacked", keylogged or gotten a break-in in any way. What are they doing wrong?? I'm generally not taking any precautions when i play, just log on and play and after all these years, my account is still secure. I still can't belive the consept of someone losing their account. Thank you. I played for 3 years, I have a 20 digit password consisting of the mix of letters and numbers, no antivirus at the moment, outpost firewall, thats it. So far, I haven't gotten hacked once. ReapMe Posted October 11, 2006 Share Posted October 11, 2006 usually i don't feel much sympathy for people who say they get hacked they tell me "plz, i just got hacked. i lost everything, can i borrow some money" first off, someone getting on their account doesn't come out of nowhere they did something to deserve it like going on those sites with cheats, attempting to use autoers, giving friends their pass etc i really doubt having an easy pass would do anything as i always have the same pass for everything just think about it, say my pass is abc123 what are the odds that one person would choose my account out of millions and guess that correct pass? But in my early days or RuneScape, someone somehow found out my password (the "JaGeX blocks your password" thing, I think...) and eventually just stole the account after a year or so... I mean come ON, if these people were actual HACKERS, they'd target Jagex staff accounts, or someone with 2+ bil gp, not your little account worth 20-100m at most. It also gives you tools like calculators and stuff so you don't have to go on to tip.it. It has a chat system called IRC (internal runescape chat) where you can get a nickname and enter a chat channel. However, I would strongly suggest you don't use it. Dexek Posted October 12, 2006 Share Posted October 12, 2006 I personally do not think "hacked" is the correct term to use, as it is next to impossible to hack a game based solely on java-script. I was keylogged on July 1. Although, I suppose it was my fault not virus scanning the computer after my brother had been on it. I lost 29.7M, but there is nothing you can do about it, and I learn from my mistakes. I feel that most people fall victim to keylogging, rather than any other version of being "hacked". Sorry for everyones losses. Its life. It happens.
